This is no good, but does give me more time to pad the slush fund, since I will be buying the phone at retail price.

OK Mr. De la Vega ... I will give you a discount on the iPhone so you can use the money and maybe I dont now ... BUY THE EXCLUSIVE RELEASE OF THE BLACKBERRY BOLD!!! and purposely delayed the device a couple of month so my iPhoney is the only major delight of the summer...

att has the exclusive... holds the bold delayed on purpose...iPhoney is the only one in the spotlight and PRESTO!!!

i was betting July on it, not today like Rogers/DoCoMo is *supposed* to be. Of course RIM internal docs have said June 25 for a while now, time and time again, including AT&T

Bogus G2 from BG - it was an earlier hardware REV that had battery issues - more recent beta users are reporting massive improvements with latest hardware/software - but BG sure enjoys turning on his spotlight magnet, doesn't he?

He definately seems a bit pro Apple but what can you do. Heck the software also has a great deal to do with the battery life. Look at some of the beta OS releases.

If the BGR report is true, why would Rogers release the bold if there was battery life and overheating issues?

BREAKING NEWS: AT&T Bold Delayed Until Mid-August? | BlackBerryNews.com

I think the iPhone has more than a bit to do with this. Perhaps ATT didn't want both launched at the same time.
I'm not usually into conspiracy theories of this sort, but it makes sense. If Rogers releases prior to August, that means either their standards are lower than AT&T or that AT&T didn't want any device grabbing even a small piece of the iPhone spotlight.

Battery life had been an issue but was fixed with later hardware/software revisions

they subsidize the units now, so they actually care a bit if they sell or not, they have a marked investment that the iPhone 2 does well.

So Canada is getting it first, so does that mean it's just a hand warmer for them but for us down south it will toast our pinkies.
I'm still waiting for the bold I can't see giving Steve over anymore money then I already have.

Then it makes sense that the delay is tied to the iPhone. Sucks for us, but AT&T has every right to do it.

BUT...my only other question is if it's not a delay based on a problem with the product, why not just go ahead and give a firm release date in August?

Decision now made. I'm going with the iPhone 3G because I'm to impatient to wait for the Bold.

I think if you see a lag in iPhone sales or if the iPhone has issues and is being returned at high rates, then you will see the 9000 launched sooner. Conversely they may push it back if the iPhone does very well.
