Hi Blackberry Users,

The other day I lost my 8900 blackberry, therefore I phoned orange and asked them to cancel it. Today I received my replacement 8900 with a new sim. Fortunately someone had handed my old phone in to where i lost it so now I now have both.

However the new sim will only work in the new phone and although it gets a signal in the old phone it wont send or make calls. Why is this?

I was hoping to sell the new phone and keep my original.

Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks

Time to be honest! The old phone is disabled and the PIN is considered dead. Only your provider could possibly enable it after you turn in the replacement.

First, welcome to the forums.

Secondly, why would you sell the new device. Why wouldn't you do the right thing and call Orange and tell them that you found the old device and send the new one back. However, they most likely marked the device as you reported it (lost/stolen). Therefore rendering it useless.

Do the right thing and call them.

Agreed. The device is useless to you and could be the property of the insurance company that covers your phone for loss or damage. Check with your carrier to always be on the safe side.

Fair enough, point taken.

To be fair I did pay for the replacement blackberry.

Cheers
