Yeah, unless it comes to BB releases in which case, they only start working a year after everyone else does...

Has anyone else given up on the 8703 because I know I have...

hell no. I got bored of the rumors for half a minute, then realized, as whoscalling states, it makes no sense to leave a great company

I got tired and am trying out a Cingular 8700c right now... have another 2 weeks to try it out before I cancel Verizon....
Love the 8700c compared to the 7290.

I know what you mean. Honestly, it's more of a personal decision for me. I use VZW for voice and T-Mobile for data. I've really wanted to keep just one device and I was hoping that the 8703 would be it. With the price estimated at ~$500, it makes no sense for me to pay all that money and then lose my cameraphone and MP3 player just to get down to one device. On top of that I'd be almost doubling the cost that I pay for my data. The whole confusion over the Intel chip kinda pushed me over the edge. In my case, i'm not leaving VZW, I've just decided against forking over a couple hundred extra $ for something I could (and should have a long time ago) get elsewhere...

i hear ya. I spent about 467 total (w/ a bluetooth headset) for an XV6700 which I despise. Its been expensive, problematic, and worthless. For a minute I was ready to switch to T-Mobile for the 8700g, great data plan, and 1000 minutes. Quickly I realized, after talking to a ton of people, that T-Mobile and the others are shitty in my area. On top of that, most people I talk to are on Verizon, so switching would mean losing free mobile to mobile, in texting, Ev-DO speeds, and Verizon WirelessSync.

I justify the 79.99 by lying to Verizon and saying I work for Circuit City (which receieves a 20% discount) and saving money with the amount of IN calling and texting I do.

yea, 500 is alot of money to blow - but there are definately things you can sell (your old phone, etc) that can help with the cost. I have a Palm T5 that ill prob sell, as well as my phone.

Longest post ever.

Verizon is interesting...on the one hand they stick it to you on price, but on the other hand they do deliver with the best coverage in the US...

Of course, VZW corporate execs would say that those two go together...that you get what you pay for, and that it takes money to build out and maintain a great network.

It's that great network that keeps so many paying their prices and waiting for the latest devices...

I had a vx6700 too, alot of nice features, but the phone freezes batteries dies. I had enought and sold it already. RIght now using a flimsy flip waiting to see if the 8703 has the same processor or whatever else. If not I might go to cingular definately not Tmobile, so many of my friends are on it but the quality is just horrendous in voice communication in my area.

Default Calling LuxuryNick

Well, it looks as if I'm the first to say how terribly wrong luxurynick was. Not only was he a month off of his guaranteed date in October, but he also was adamant that there would be no "e" in 8703e. Wow, it's gotta be tough to want to be right as much as he did and end up being so completely and totally wrong.

Now, onto my real thought. It's here. It's expensive. I'm happy with my non-EVDO 7250. I depend on its stability and reliability. I'm also a gadget junkie who want the latest and greatest. I might like to tether to my laptop once in a while, too. Do I make the switch? Do I hang on for the 8100? Someone help!!!

I'm interested to see what it does to the 7130's price... I might just go with the 7130 after the 8703 hits, since I would think the price should come down a little, and even if it doesn't, it's already cheaper.

Just like the 8703e (complete with photoshopped picture) that was up for sale on eBay, promised for August 28th?

premature...I had my supplier that claimed he would have them that weekend, sadly, I can only assume that he was basing his info on the rumors from here...Oh well...

But yes, 350ish on ebay...

I have the same echo issue and I've isolated its source: it happens only AFTER I've used any type of Bluetooth headset/speakerphone. The only way to correct it is to shut down the BB and REMOVE ITS BATTERY. This is critical: it's not enough for you to turn it off; you have to physically remove the battery for a few seconds. Unfortunately, the problem reappears after every time you use (by which I mean, actually talking through) a Bluetooth device with the BB, but at least this process solves it until the next time.

I knew I couldn't be the only person having this problem! I hope this helps.
