Hi,
My company gets discounts for service and blackberrys through Verizon so I am purchasing one.
Can anyone tell me which is better and why? I know the 7130 is newer and has more memory along with a speaker phone which personally does not mean much to me but other then what I listed is the 7130e that much better? The only reason why I'm leaning towards the 7250 is the keyboard. I really dislike the multi letters on one key but how does the "prediction" method work on the 7130e?
And does the 7250 support EVDO? Some places say it does after a 4.0 upgrade and others just don’t mention it. They both cost the same and I don’t want to spend the money only to find out I should have bought the other one.

I have used both and I like the 7130e better, both as a phone and as a email device. I had no problems with the switch from a full keyboard (7250) to the 7130e. I actually like typing on the 7130 and feel I am just a quick now as I was with the full qwerty keyboard. The 7130 feels more like a phone.

The 4.0.2 and the new 4.1 software for the 7250 supports EV-DO. I love it myself, as I use it only for data, and love the full QWERTY keyboard.

I'm on T-Mobile currently using a 7105t but I can offer some insight into the 7100 series.

SureType (on all 7100 series models) works by learning your word patterns and predicting the next one to two letters you type in a word as you compose a message. However, it's not completely flawless, as it will get words such as "get" and "hey" mixed up but you can use the Next (key with 2 arrows on the bottom left side of the keypad) to scroll through your choices (4 or more. I've had it give me up to 6 choices at times LOL) to select the appropriate word by hitting the Space key. If you have used a regular cell phone with T9 predictive text capabilities, you will understand this. Took me an hour after I got my first 7100t to master SureType. Surprised the heck outta myself cause I thought it would take longer coming from a full keyboard BB LOL

Also if you prefer a smaller, more phone-like handset, the smaller 7130e would be a better choice. I switched over from a 7730 to a 7100t and now a 7105t and I love them because of the compact size. I have limited places to hook a case with a clip for a full QWERTY keypad BB. I throw my BB in my backpack on my chair and I'm on my way.

Both phones support EVDO but from what I read, it can be a pain to actually get it to work because I think the 7250 requires an upgrade to get EVDO but I'm not sure. It is built into the 7130e. You will also need to get Verizon's BroadBandAccess package to get the faster speed of EVDO (both phones).

Also, both phones can act as tethered modems when connected to your PC. This allows you internet access without buying a PC card or having to find a hotspot to connect your PC to. You can also surf the web right on both phones without having to lug around a laptop. This requires their Data package for BlackBerry.

I have used both, and I completely agree with fireman. After a few days using Suretype on the 7130e, I am completely comfortable with it.

Also, the display on the 7130e is far better.

The display may be far better on the 7130 unless you are outside in the daylight, then the 7130 is useless. I just traded my 7130 and got a 7520 because of this. The sure type was ok but I like the full key board alot better.

The display of the 7250 can be improved if you either make or use some of the new themes found at the forum, if you use a clear mask. srl7741 has created many this way as well as MrKyoo.
