Post BIS+BES Users: Message Background Colours

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure if this has already been covered and search did not turn up any results on this.

On the 8800 and 8830, under Options, Security Options, General Settings, there is a section called "Message Background Colours:".

The items listed are:

Enterprises Messages: None
Other Messages: None

You can now choose a striped color background to identify which messages are from your BES and from BIS. Color choices are None, Red, Orange, Green, Blue, Purple.

This feature is helpful in identifying personal email vs. work email. Especially if you only use the main Messages folder instead of the individualized icons for each email account.

This applies to VZW OS v4.2.2.66 and AT&T 8800 OS v.4.2.1.79.

Yes, but the message background colors set through this option show up AFTER you open a message! what would be even more useful is if the colors can be set to mark Enterprize and other messages in the main Mailbox view - where you see the list of messages waiting to be read!

Odd, I followed the path Options, Security Options, General Settings and didn't see anything pertaining to message colours. But I am only on BIS; does this apply for when one is on both BES and BIS?

Intuitively, it makes sense; but I thought I might be able to differentiate between various BIS accounts. Oh well...

Yup -- you have to be on BES.

smjoshi -- I recommend checking into Level 1 messaging. You can make email from a given account appear in red if they're forwarded as Level 1. You'd set Forward as Level 1 in your filters for the account.

Great suggestion. Something worth considering, Any way to find a third color? I could see setting up a filter for specific recipients.
