Default BB 9670 Clamshell

Here we go again folks ....

BlackBerry 9670 unveiled, CDMA clamshell device! « Boy Genius Report

With rumors and rumors of a clamshell BlackBerry device going back ages, we finally have some confirmation on the phone, and in a big way, too. Not only do we have the first photos ever of this BlackBerry 9670, and not only is it the first BlackBerry clamshell ever seen (we don’t really count the Pearl Flip), but it’s also running the first ever photos of OS 6.0 (on a device). We’d love to tell you all about this brand new BlackBerry device… after the jump!

The BlackBerry 9670 is a CDMA device packed to the brim with a full QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera (a first!), Wi-Fi, a 360×480 internal display, huge external display, trackpad, OS 6.0, microUSB port, microSD internal storage slot, Bluetooth, and a metallic finish casing. Obviously we’re far from final, and things can and will change, but that’s a pretty good overview. We’re working on getting more information, videos — the whole works –but for now, check out the best high resolution photo gallery of an unreleased, unannounced, unheard of device that you’ve ever laid eyes on.

What is the approximate release date? Although I have a bb9700 from Tmobile, I would purchase the 9670 in a heartbeat from Verizon. I love the clamshell type. This is more like a phone to me and the keys seem to be bigger as per the released photos of this new BB. Of course it has to have 3G too.

The phone is ugly but OS 6.0 is great!
I hope OS6 will be available on 9700 :D

Your guess is as good as anyone else at this point.

Oh barf. I hope it isn't so.

I hate this style of phone, but I guess it's good for those who do enjoy it. There's a phone like this called the Cleo and I think it's the ugliest square thing ever, but others have it so I guess they like it. It's often young girls I see though. I think it's because it looks like a makeup compact haha.

I would be interested in seeing it. My Mom had the Pearl Flip and loved it but I got her a Tour when we moved to Verizon. I think it would be a good phone for her. I probably would not get it for me though.

Why wouldn't the pearl flip count? According to the logic used to justify this one as a clamshell phone, the kickstart was a clamshell too. This is simply a newer generation flip blackberry. I like the trackpad and the fully qwerty, nice additions to this generation.

Don't they ask around the office for opinions before making this kind of crap?

The Razr was the most successful clamshell design and it wasn't due to performance. How about borrowing a little more of the sharper lines that newer phones have and the Razr had?

God, this makes my device seem even older. I am hyped to be getting OS 5.0 and now this device with 6.0 comes out. Gah, the Bold 9650 needs to come out already, so I can get me my Tour!

Agree that it may be ugly, but I see references to the large external display,
but the pics only show the phone open.
Lots of new ones for us to speculate about!

I've been thinking about it, and I can see this device being popular among highschool kids getting their first smartphone. Especially if it comes in other colours.

I think that is who this is being geared towards, though some adults may enjoy the design.

Keep in mind that it might only be a prototype or a mock up. And put a real BB with a QWERTY keypad in a clamshell probably isn't that easy.

If it's a prototype, I hope it's the one they discarded because it's was too ugly.

Ugly, yes. However, this might be a phone I'd get anyhow (if it ever shows up on ATT). If I wanted pretty I'd get one of those pink phones from Bill Gates.
