Ok well maybe he was told 8300 series..just corroborating info by the original poster since I heard somethung similar. That was the point of my post..not to say tmobile is releasing the 83xx with wifi and gps and calling it the 8300.

While I've been reasonably happy with Cingular, their new policy with an ETF for adding the international data plan is getting me to think long and hard about taking my old -- but unlocked 7290 -- to T-Mobile now and waiting until their 83xx comes out.
Any advice? Anyone want to tell me that's a bad idea?

You certainly can drag your laptop to these locations to get connected.
I have trouble myself understanding that many users have never been outside of a coverage area. They argue that T-mobile, Verizon, Sprint, Cingular, or Alltel, etc. is the "best", when it is coverage in the areas that you need service, that really matters the most.
|
Well I don't own a laptop NOR do I wish to lug one around when I'm visiting friends going to work (when I have the work laptop there to use or lug around). I'm a very active (physical) person, and I like to carry as LESS accesories as I can, just my personal preference as EVERYONE is different. I'd like to have WIFI because NOT ALL markets offer an unlimited data plan, like the majority of the US. Here in Canada there is no unlimited data, and as such providers are following the model of TV unlimited, or Music DL access unlimited for downloading or phonebook or whatever. They make more money for buckets like that. I want unlimited data so that "I" can choose what I wish to do wirelessly. Also not in Creston Iowa only US Cellular has service for BB. Go figure. With a much better coded/implemented bowser I can surf all kinds of things that I wanted. (can the BB Browser do ftp access to save to the MicroSD now?)

Be careful when sending ANY sensative information over a wireless network.

Sith, I'm sure RIM worked out this possible situation before with Enterprises using the 7270 over a year ago. I'm sure the MAC Address/chipset does NOT allow for Ad-hoc mod to send ping requests to it. Also emails DID work over the BES on WiFi with that model, and PBX for phone calls worked as well. I've never played with it but I believed there should be no reason that RIM cannot make that connection uber secure.

Yes and No
The 7100C and 7100T are essentially the same.
The 7130c and 7130e are quite different internally.
EDGE/GSM vs EVDO/CDMA

You should only be paying $24.99 for your BIS plan, and $44.99 for a BES Plan. Of course it is dependent on having a voice plan.
Not sure where you are obtaining your international pricing, but I just got back from the Caymans and we pay $64.99 for unlimited Blackberry International not $150.

Boy Genius has a T-Mobile Blackberry 8320 in hand. It is branded T-Mobile and has WiFI, so the original poster was correct in the 8300 for T-Mobile having WiFI. If this has already been posted, I apologize.

The only problem is that was back in March............we have not heard anything, not even rumors as to when tmo will release the 8320. All I hear is the release date on May 24 for at&t.

so if the 8320 has wifi..and in the boygenius screenshots it shows that one of the options of wifi is to send and receive email, would those emails be saved like emails received through the data plan? or would it just be like sending and receiving emails through a browser?

what..bis only $24.99/month with voice? we have been paying bis with cingular for $29.99/month w/ voice for almost a year. they said bis cost $34.99/month w/o voice. im gonna give them a call tomorrow. man..there they go again ripping ppl off.
and the international price is for business customer...$64.99/month is for regular consumer. u would think business customer would charge less...but i guess cingular aka at&t think they can charge twice as much for "business customer" cuz they think we are make out of $$$. gotta look up for the email they quote me on as a buiness customer tomorrow if u want proof.

well well i just went to cingular website to check the rate:
Get Started | AT&T, formerly Cingular Wireless
they listed their bis plan for $34.99. that is w/o voice. with voice it would be $29.99/month just like what we currently pay. so where did u get ur price for $24.99?
u trying to make up lies here..huh? i guess we all know who u work for now...cingular aka at&t? im exposing what a fraud ur company is.

It all depends what discount your company gets, for me it's $25.49 with voice.

Seems maybe no wifi...don't you think for germany and france would have the 8320 also. They are selling 8300. Don't think tmo would sell europe a diffrent version phone than usa....just my opinion.

Once again, this is an inaccurate statement.
An 8320 is NOT an 8300.
Just like an 8830 is not an 8800, or a 7130 is not a 7100.
Different numbers... different device... different features.
The 8300 does not have WiFi, nor will it.

I kind of hope your right, now maybe we can hope for a quick release. I was worried that if we had to wait for the 8320, it might be late June or July. If it is the 8300 then I think it could come any day now. I just dont understand if T-Mobile International released it already, why wouldnt they release it here just prior to at&t.

No lies at all just simply stating what our company pays Cingular/AT&T for these services.
You do not have to work for the carrier or be a genius to know the prices. And as strogonowski pointed some companies obtain other discounts that are not listed. Such is the case with a few lines we have at the discounted rate.
So for you and other consumers the $29.99 applies.
And no need to check the international price that is for consumers and business (sans discounts) it is correct.
