Please Login to Remove!

Anyone tried getting this plan and work on their 8700g?
I know that the only compatible phone with My Faves right now is the Pearl-but I dont want that phone.

Thanks!

At the moment, My Faves isn't compatible with the 8700.

I actually called Tmo on this today...They said only the new phones will have that feature and not old phones...I asked if a BB firmware update in the coming might address this issue, they said not likely...

Quite disappointing...If it were available on the 8700g, I would most likely be moving to tmo, but it's not..

What does not make sense, is that if it's a handset thing and the numbers 5 numbers need to be programed into the phone, then it really is not 5 numbers...you can just enter any number at any given time so you don't have to
ever have a call reduce your alloted minutes...

I'm not sure, but if I am, that's a big loophole...

You can only chane those 5 numbers once per each calendar. I am sure the marketing department and sales have thought about the loophole.

You can only change the 5 people once every 30days. The device locks you out from changing them. I wish the 8700 came with it too... looks like I have to order the 8100 now gah!!

Question *bump!*

*BUMP!*

This question still remains unanswered (at least not satisfactorily), and I would also like to know, as well.

Has anyone been able to get My Faves working on a T-Mobile 8700g or 8705g?!?

I'm an unwilling Sprint customer, my service has been turned to crap by Sprint's takeover of Nextel, and I'm ready to leave. I was mere days away from getting a Verizon 8703e, when I heard about T-Mo's My Faves. Now that they've let that cat out of the bag, I'm seriously considering T-Mobile... something I never thought I'd do again after getting rid of my Sidekick. Even though T-Mo doesn't have HSDPA/UMTS 3G data yet, with that service still being roughly a year away, they do have EDGE, which is still significantly faster than Nextel's data network. And the My Faves feature would give me a reasonable substitute for the Free Incoming Calls that I'll lose by leaving Nextel. So, it's imperative that I be able to use that feature on an 8700g or 8705g if I make the switch to T-Mobile.

Any info on this subject will be appreciated.

P.S. I like my QWERTY keyboard and I loathe the SureType keyboard, so the Pearl/8100 is NOT an option for me. Never has been, never will be.

P.P.S. After talking to a friend that works at a T-Mobile corporate store, I know that the 8705g is still officially unavailable, even though his store has a display sample of the 8705g that they received in September. Apparently the launch of the 8705g was delayed at the last minute and no new date is available yet. Could this have been delayed to give RIM and T-Mo time to add My Faves into the OS?

Cool MyFaves now on 8700!

Good news! T-Mobile's newest 8700g OS update (to version 4.2) adds in the MyFaves custom interface!

The proof is located HERE.

As soon as I download and install 4.2 onto my brand new 8700g (just bought it today!), I'll report back with my own verification.

Is 4.2 available for 8700g yet? I have not heard any news about it. If it was already released, I would have read lot of posts in BBF already.

Hmmm... Good question. It may be in a beta testing stage, or perhaps somebody worked a little OS hacking magic?

My guess would be the former.

I've got a 4-day holiday weekend ahead of me (don't go back to work 'til Wednesday! ), so I'll be doin' more research over the next few days.

In the meantime, may your Xmas (or other winter holiday of your choice) be merry!

Regardless of the tmobile phone you are using, If a myfaves plan is on your account you will have free calls to your favorite 5. You will be able to change those 5 via my.tmobile.com or by calling customer service. You will recieve SMS confirmations of any changes to your myfavs contacts just like a real myfav phone.

For confirmation, see the t-mobile forum on howardforums.com or, try it yourself. Just tell the CS agent that you bought a myfavs enabled phone (change your phone type under my.tmobile to a myfavs phone) and ask them to change your plan to a myfavs plan. Set your 5 numbers via the web page and go.

T-mobile insists that a myfavs phone is required as they would like to push their myfavs branding and provide a consistent interface to the service no matter what device you use.

I have been able to make free calls to my myfavs contacts using a nokia 8890, v60g, k800i, Dash, Nokia 8800 Sirocco and nokia 6133.
