Default De-register Bold 9700

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, first post, figured you guys would know a lot more about this than anyone else!

Anyway, I had a Bold 9700, and I got given another one for free, brand new, mint condition. So I decided to sell my first Bold 9700 on eBay. I did that, got £200 for it, and that was alright. I rang up Orange and asked to de-register my device, and they said okay. However, I got an email from the bloke who bought it today asking me to de-register the phone so he can register it.

What did I do wrong? Is there some special process I need to do in order to make sure it can be used by someone else? How would I go about de-registering my PIN?

Thanks!

The other guy probably needs to do a security wipe of his phone Settings>Security>Security Wipe.

Security wipe will not help.

If you are using your 9700, then your BIS should have your new device PIN registered, which automatically de-registers the previous device.
