I discovered a problem and noticed the same thing on 4 other verizon 8330's.

Whenever I get a text message that plays audio (example a dumb picture that plays a song automatically), after I view the message the phone no longer works. When someone tries to call me or I call someone I can hear them but they can't hear me.

The only way to fix it is by pulling the battery out to reset itself, just shutting it off won't fix it. I spoke with verizon about this and they have no idea. I tried it with a few of my friends curves including one that was just bought an hour prior to me trying it, and the same issue was there.

Has anyone else noticed this?
Is it specific to the Verizon Curve or all carriers?
Does anybody have a fix for this (I couldn't find one)?

Thanks for any advice or help, I tried searching and couldn't find anything about this.

Works fine on my 8330 from Verizon, what OS version are you using?

I haven't noticed that--but I dont get SMS text messages with pictures that play songs automatically. Are you getting MMS messages in that manner?

The OS is v4.3.0.127

My friend who just bought one yesterday actually showed me the problem. I thought it was just a bad phone but he forwarded one of the messages to me and the same thing happened on mine. I bought mine when it came out.

I get standard video and picture messages with no problems.

The one that cause's a problem has text followed by a picture and it plays audio.

when i receive it on the bb the message has the little arrow icon with it like an mms message.

Also it's not just this message from one person, it happens on any that are like it.

i have a curve 8330 thru verizon, bought about 6 weeks ago. have recurring problem of similar nature- often comes after someone leaves me voicemail. am unable to place or receive call successfully because i cannot hear the other party, but they can usually (not always?) hear me. have spent hours on phone with tech support, have gotten replacement device, etc. apparently there is an email from RIM to verizon describing this as known bug. am awaiting patch. only solution is to remove battery. happens every other day or so. pretty annoying. also apparently reported for the pearl but not the world, but world doesn't have camera so i'm not switching.

Sounds like a "oh s*it... We screwed up again" thing from verizon.

Upgrade to 4.5 and see if the problem is taken care of

No problem on 8310 with AT&T. I get them all the time with no trouble.

I have not been able to receive audio at all with MMS on my 8330. I was wondering if there is something that I need to enable to get this to work. Does anyone have a solution to this problem, or is it an inherant problem to the Curve?

no probs with messaging on my 8330 from verizon

Same here..haven't had a single problem with the VZW Curve doing anything like this. Try upgrading the OS as suggested earlier and problem should go away.

I have had that problem before, and I didn't realize this was why... makes sense now...
