Default Dialing PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP - type name in phone recent calls

Please Login to Remove!

With my old blackberry (7520) when I was in the "phone" program from which you dial numbers, I could scroll below the input area to the recent calls list and start typing any name in my phone book and it would come up. I got a new 7520 and put my sim card in it. Now this option is not available.

I have searched the FAQ and threads, gone to stores and talked to friends. No one knows how or where this setting is??

PLEASE HELP ME, this is the most convenient feature of the phone. Now I am forced to go to the phone book find the name and click the wheel four times to make a call!

Welcome to the BBForums.

Have you transferred your SIM card contacts to the Address Book of the new BB?

Default This is my title

I actually did not have anything saved on the sim card of my old phone. I broke the screen so I was limited in my options. I looked at the restore file that my computer saves when I backup blackberry during hotsync. I then backed-up the new blackberry and just saved the old blackberry backup files over the new blackberry backup/restore files. Then I did a restore on the new one.

I did however have an error message saying that my sim card was full and that I had to erase some call history. This never happened with my old BB, so I thought maybe there is a save to sim card option turned on that I don't know about?? I can't find it though.

Could this be the problem? maybe my numbers are stored on the sim now and that does not allow the dialing from "phone" recent history?

Thanks for the speedy reply btw.

I should specify that the full sim card message did not come at the time of restore, but rather after a month or two.

Bummer. I tried to find some setting but couldn't. Just automatically works for me.

Have you tried pulling the battery for a reboot?

Default yet another riveting title

I have done several soft resets, and I have taken the battery out many times.

I really feel that the answer lies in the sim card setting. If anyone knows why the call history would be filling my sim card, that would tell me the answer.

That is the only other difference in the functionality of this phone. Seems likely that the two are connected.

Oh, there is another difference. This phone came from a previous user. There are several icons that the previous user had installed which are still there. Does anyone think that I should do some sort of "restore to default" to dump all settings which have been added to this BB?

I have all my phone numbers in outlook now, so there would be no substantial loss of data. I just need to know if there is a way to do this, and if it makes any sense to do.

Thanks for all the help by the way. This is the most responsive and helpful chat community I have joined.

yea. wipe the bad boy and reinstall OS. The former owner might have had some specialized needs.
