Smile The mute button at the top.

Please Login to Remove!

What exactly does the mute button do at the top? If I push it in quickly it does nothing but if I hold it in it goes in Stand By mode. What exactly is Stand By Mode? Can calls still come in?

Thanks for your help?

The button does just that. The standby mode makes the keys and pearl locked but messages still come in the same. I rings the same for calls. I use it when I put it in my pocket. Just press it again and it comes on instantly. Nice feature.

If you want to silence the phone you will need to go to profiles and do it from there.

If the phone is already ringing, it mutes it. It doesn't mute it if the phone isn't ringing.

It not only mutes what is playing, but infact pauses it.

You can also hold down the pound key to go into silent mode automatically, do the same to return to the previous profile you were in.

wow good shortcut - i would rather it go normal to vibrate than normal to silent.

figured out that if you go into your profiles select normal and than select quiet than hold down the # key it will switch to normal and quiet.

same with if normal and loud - cool feature!

What is the difference between putting your phone in standby and locking it?

Stand by conserves energy and locking it keeps you from pressing keys in your pocket.

Mine toggles between the one i selected and vibrate. So if i picked silent, it will go between silent and vibrate, but if i pick loud, it will go between loud and vibrate.

Hmm I don't use a password for when my phone is locked so the only difference that I see (besides the conserving power which is very nice) is that to unlock I either press * then [GREEN] or the Mute key. I got four e-mails while I was asleep last night (had the phone on standby) and the LED indicator was not flashing red when I woke up like it normally does when I have the phone locked and I get a text or e-mail. Any insight?

Unless you use BBAlerts the red led will stop flashing about 20 minutes after the last message comes in.

My Mute button eventually "unmutes" by itself (didn't touch any keys). How do I stop that? I want the phone to stay in standby mode until I "unmute" it.

Am on 4.2.0.51 - is this a bug in this version?
