Default phone calls kill wifi

Please Login to Remove!

Bless me, I'm new to this. Not at all technical, but here goes. Simply, when I get a phone call on the blackberry, which is also on the home wifi, after about a minute, regularly, the call drops followed by the wifi - not just for the phone, but the laptop also loses connectivity. My ISP is AOL and the router is a Thomson ST585V6.

It's got to the point of disabling the wifi on the phone - we shall see if this works.

Any clues anyone of an easy fix?

Thanks with fingers crossed.

Tony

The 8520 is EDGE only and is not capable of simultaneous voice and data. There is no fix other than upgrading to a 3G device.

I'm not trying simultaneous voice and data. Just on the phone with the phone, and on the internet with the PC. Phone rings, I start conversation, moments later, phone cuts off, wifi to PC also drops out. Call person back, repair wifi connection. Normality resumed....til the next phone call.

Orange UK?
I think your phone is trying to use UMA, and is set to use it as the preferred connection.
Therefore its using wi-fi to try and connect the call, not the mobile network, and that's why its dropping out.

Though I wasn't aware the 8520 had UMA...so perhaps I'm wrong about that...
