First I have OS 4.5.0.75 loaded on my Blackberry Curve 8320 from T-Mobile. I have my home voicemail setup to send an email when someone leaves a voicemail containing a .wav file of the actual voicemail.

It will not play on my phone but plays fine on my wife's curve (they have the same os). I get an error message of the media being played is of an unsupported format.

Anybody got any ideas as to why it won't play?

Exactly, it works great on my wifes curve but not on mine. In an effort to fix the problem I downgraded and re-upgraded this morning.

Alas it still does not work.......

I have the exact same problem since upgrading to the latest OS, its a big problem to. Does anyone have a work around for this?

i keep checking on this issue hoping that someone finds a fix or rim issues a new 4.5 release that fixes the problem...but alas...

Is it just WAV files? Are you able to download/open every other type of attachment?

Option -> Advanced Options -> Applications, look for BB Attachment service.

Also login into your BIS and re-send your service books.

Are you on a BES?

just WAV files. mp3s no problem. i am on BES. somewhere i read that windows media player needs to be on the BES server. that's not the issue. i have 50+ OS 4.2 users who all receive and play WAV voicemail messages fine. every single upgraded 8310 to OS 4.5 cannot play WAVs. 2 bold units on 4.6 play WAV without issue. it's OS 4.5 as far as i can tel...

I can't play voice mails sent as wav files attached to an email either. When I try to play or save the attachment, I get a red x

But my friend has no trouble on her Sprint 8330m. Is it carrier related, or BES related (she's on BES I'm on BIS), or just random? I'd *really* like to be able to listen to those voice mail wav files on my BB. I wasn't able to play them on 4.2 or 4.3 either.

The BES can control the attachments, and I do believe .wav are allowed on BES.

If you are on a BES I'd shout over to the IT/BES guy.

i am the BES guy. i am allowing .wav files without a filesize restriction (size set to 0). i've double-checked and triple-checked my IT policy in case there is something in there, tried a default plain-vanilla policy on my own device...just no luck...i'm convinced this is a device issue and not a BES issue, at least for me...
