Default Bold Memory

Please Login to Remove!

I know there are other threads with this topic, so fo the addition of a new one, I apologize. The reason I am writing is because there appears to be a lack of consensus about the Bold's Memory and its allocation.

First, I just got the Bold. I was a long-time T-Mobile customer, who was satisfied overall, but just a little upset with the technologies, upgrades and devices, so I switched. As of Wednesday, I am an AT&T guy (we will see how long it lasts).

1) Does the device memory house apps, or does the application memory handle them? I have heard that app memory is like "RAM".

2) Why when I opened the box and started the device was I already at 38mb or app memory? And why would they resort to so much "device memory" as the way to store pics, vids, songs, etc, when a Micro SD can be used?

3) What is the latest official firmware for the device? Where can I find it?

If the app memory is the only way to store apps, then I must say that this is probably the worst blackberry i've owned since the 7230.

1) application memory. yes, app memory is like RAM
2) because the OS will take up most of the 128MB.
3)the latest OS is in the stickied thread at the top of the forum.

with 2), the Os takes up most of the memory, but later (newer) OS's use less and less of this memory.

And yes, the app memory is the only way to store apps.
