You simply need to find an OS version relased by an Asian carrier that supports Korean. Any OS with the filename 8310CJK will have this support (in addition to English.) Most are "MultiLanguage" which are most all the other languages (including English.)

If you can read Korean on your device, you most likely have the East Asian OS installed and you should be able to install the input support through the desk top software that was used to install your OS.

I was afraid that East Asian OS 4.5.37 would kill my TMO sim card. So I tried and succeeded adding Chinese email reading and composing with OS 4.5.52 and noticed Korean input is supported. But I have 8320. You could go to the BB download site and download the East Asian version for your device from https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...4B931C35A169B0 if you need to.

UMA works for me though I have to reset it once in a while, you may try to turn off wifi and back on to see if it would switch over to UMA. But I do have problem with memory leak, battery draining faster and the handset shut down twice in a week since without being used. I have to pull the battery to get it to turn back on.
What I did was install both handset versions, deleted the vendor.xml files and copied all the related CJK files from the Asian version to this newer version and installed. To upgrade, I would assume you can install this newer version, copy the related CJK files over to retain the Asian support, delete the vendor.xml file and run apploader.

I use T-Mobile BB 8320 and made 4.5.0.75 version working with Korean input function using the Korean input related files from 4.5.0.52 version.
I hope this posting is helpful to other folks trying to use latest BB OS with Korean (Japanese or Chinese) input fuction from older version of BB OS.

So far, I found no issues. I'll post if I find any issues later.
UMA, Video recording, HTML email view, Korean reading & input, etc., all these new functions are working just fine. (Even MyFaves application works well)
No memory leakage found yet.

Here are the steps I used.

0) Take your micro SD card out of you BB and back up all the data in the micro SD card to your PC.
FYI, I saw several people recommending this to prevent unexpected issues.

1) Download and install the latest version of Desktop Manager

2. Download and install a Blackberry OS supporting Korean input.
For example, I downloaded package version 4.5.0.52 (which contains application version 4.5.0.37)from SmarTone-Vodafone, the carrier in HongKong.

3) Download and install the latest BB OS you can find on the WEB even if it doesn't support Korean.
For example, I downloaded package version 4.5.0.75 (which contains application version 4.5.0.52) from Orange UK site.

4) Go to 'C;\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\' in your local PC and you should find two folders
If you installed same versions I installed in step 2 and 3 above, you should have '8320-v4.5.0.37_P2.7.0.55'(older version OS with Korean support) and '8320-
v4.5.0.52_P2.7.0.66'(Newest version OS without Korean support)

5) Delete all the files and folders under '8320-v4.5.0.52_P2.7.0.66'(Newer version).
Copy all the files and folders in '8320-v4.5.0.37_P2.7.0.55'(Older version) to '8320-v4.5.0.52_P2.7.0.66'(Newer version) folder.

6) Now, reinstall the newer version BB OS you downloaded from step #3 above.

This way, everything in '8320-v4.5.0.52_P2.7.0.66'(folder for newer version) will be replaced back to newest files other than Korean related files that are not
included in the newest version.

7) Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

8) Connect your BB with your PC and execute the Desktop Manager you installed in Step #1. You should be prompted to upgrade.

9) The whole upgrade process takes about 45 minutes to one hour.
Your BB will be rebooted several times and it may look like dead just showing a sandglass for a quite long time.
Don't unplug your BB!!! It is normal. Be patient and sing your favoriate songs while waiting.

10) Finally, your BB will wake up and start setup process.

11) Put your micro SD card back, format it and restore all the data you've backed up to your PC.

Good luck!!

I modified newsysop's method and it seems to work fine. (Thanks newsysop!!)
I've already installed 4.5 multilanguage, so I took the East Asian 4.5, copied the whole folder into a new folder, renamed the folders appropriately and copied the multilanguage version over it. (also deleted vendor.xml of course)
The Desktop Manager showed CJK fonts and input methods are available to be installed, so I did. Now I can read Korean and Japanese from my BB no problem.

But I can't figure out how to write Korean. How do I switch to the CJK input method? Is there a special combination of keys?

Korean Input method must also be installed. The shortcut key combo by default is [Alt]+[Enter], or go to Options > Language > to set your default.

I installed the latest OS, it's 8320EastAsia_PBr4[1].5.0_rel81_PL2.7.0.68_A4.5.0.55_Indosat to obtian Korean viewing/input.
Installation was good and I was able to type and view Korean.
But I noticed my facebook application was gone so I downloaded.
Ever since then, My message or e-mails that come in Korean are all cracked, can't read at all. However, i can still type Korean.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Also available for the 8310 from same provider. Just click 8310 when asked for software you want.
