Does this affect the way all pop3 accounts are or just g-mail and yahoo?

I am just trying to figure out if I should be looking forward to it as much as I am.
Even thought the release date is (obviously) wrong, see here for what will supposedly be in BIS 2.3: BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) 2.3 launches today : The Boy Genius Report

Features that will likely matter to most users include:

1. FULL (2-way -- like BES) Message Reconciliation with Gmail and Yahoo! Accounts: This is a pretty big step forward and will obviate the necessity for many of the "work-arounds" that have been developed in this regard.

2. Integration of Delivery & Read Receipts.

3. Ability to snag files (not just media files) from the MicroSD card and attach them to emails.

4. Ability to play .wav/.mp3 email attachments -- handy, even necessary, for those of us who have our voicemails forwarded to us via email (think Vonage/Cisco/etc.).

There are supposedly going to be some other enhancements as well, but those are the "Big 4" as far as I'm concerned -- each of which is a pretty significant step forward in the functionality of the device, which is why I am absolutely shocked that there's not more buzz about this on this Forum.

wow that really is a pretty big step forward on these things. I am glad they are getting on the ball and trying to improve stuff. I would guess the competition from the up coming iphone has rim trying to update their services in order to better compete with another high end phone.

For me, if rim would get AIM working and get a fully integrated inbox from aol...I think I would be jumping up and down with out any other things to complain about except for faster internet speeds and prices....1 of which is being fixed by the new 3g network and the other...well I dont see prices getting better anytime soon.

thanks again for the explanation

Actually they're reporting it coming this weekend, unless my reading skills have seriously deteriorated.
The rumour has been June 2nd/3rd for a week or so now. If it's going to happen this weekend it will be a) for all NA carriers and b) happen some time over night Saturday/Sunday morning

Woops, I missed that "effective june 2nd" part...

My bad.

Either way, I hope this is in effect sometime this weekend. The new BIS seams to have some nice features.

I tried to access my BIS e-mail settings to add a new spam filter and get a message saying that it's down for maintenace with the BlackBerry logo and branding, and no T-Mobile branding. It redirected to https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html/index.html. Hope that means that 2.3 is a go.

I tried to log into my BIS account and got this message...

Service temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. Please try again later.

I have been unable to receive emails since last night. I hope it goes back up soon.

Why on earth are you still using aim email? j/k. Switch to yahoo or gmail, have all your aim emails forwarded to yahoo or gmail account.

Default Read Receipts/Delivery Receipts

On BIS 2.3, how do you setup the "Receipt" functions? I didn't see any options for this stuff while logged into the webclient. Is it on the phone side settings?

Thanks
