Cool OS Speed 8300 vs 8700

Please Login to Remove!

I recently purchased an 8300 and love the phone so far. One minor problem though is that the OS seems a lot slower on the 8300 than on my old reliable 8700. It takes a long time to switch between applications, at least as compared to the 8700. Anyone else notice this?

nope. I had an 8700 and switched to an 8300 and haven't notice that issue.

It does have some quirkes, but mine was one of the pre-release evaluation units. I have two issues

(a) Freezing - taking time to do anything - sticks with the hourglass spinning.

(b) Occassional loss of SMS & phone log data, which can be tedious.

I'm running 4.2.2.67 - I haven't bothered looking to see if there is updated device code available.

I agree... had the 8700, 8100 (pearl) and 8800 -- and the Curve now, and haven't found it any slower. Only time it ever feels slow is if I've been playing with an app that has a memory leak (and memory gets too low), and occasionally a Today Theme can feel slower than the other types. Aside from that, I think the Curve should be as fast as any of the predecessors.

8300 vs 8700 with OS 4.2 should have the same speed since they have the same processor. 8700 with OS 4.1 is slightly faster but not by much.

Got my 8320 on Tmo today as well. It is slower then my 8700g with 4.1. Changing screens has a slight delay. Unfortunate... Doesn't bother me enough to return it though..

Same here. 8700g w/4.1 to 8320 w 4.2 and it's definitely slower in the ways described - changing screens, apps, etc. Not enough to return. But noticeable.
