this whole thread actually made me buy one a rim 950!!!! I always loved this handheld.

The screen is scrappy when u compare it to now..but 5 years ago, it was awesome!!!

I wouldnt say no to a modern rim 950, gsm, color screen, high resolution (like the 7290). Bluetooth sync with computer. With paging possibilities.

The one feature I miss about the old school blackberries, (even though technically you were not supposed to do it), was that when you were on the plane, you could still send and receive messages, if you flew over an area where the cell coverage would reach up that high. On long flights it was nice to be able get messages out that you needed to.

While I know the commercial airlines technically prohibit their use, our corporate aircraft flight crews allowed us to use the BB's in flight.

Sadly, the new devices won't even catch a hint of a signal after you get a few 1000 feet off the ground.

That was because of the mobitex network. It was easy to get a signal in a plane. Can't do that with the 2.5/3g networks.

I loved that it was small, and discrete, even all the new BBerry's are too huge, I sit down they dig into my side... I loved the small 950.... And you KNOW the guys at RIM were doing alot of work on the power saving features.... a 1 Watt Cell Modem and 386SX Processor ran for 3 weeks ON A SINGLE AA BATTERY! Amazing!

Did you know that there was a 3V Litihum in the 950? All the AA did was re-charge the 3V litihum (hense why you could change the battery fast and it wouldn't die)

oh man it would be amazing..having the phone integrated...but u can only use it with a headset! oh man..it sounds so goood!!! i dont even care if it has sd slot or not!!! it would be so cool to send this thread to rim..and having this thread reappear in the rumor section as...next bberry to be released. THE BB9500 !!!

New forum user here. My name is Erica. I have a 950 that I used with AOL's Mobile Communicator Service and I can't seem to get rid of it. Problem is I don't have any serial ports on my pc or the cradle/software to update the device.
