7520, desktop 4.0, Outlook 2002/xp problem
Preface -- we are running a 3.6 BES (I think...know it's not up to 4.0 yet), and the user in question is running Outlook XP as a mail client.
Ok, that having been said, here's the skinny --
User in the office ordered a new Nextel 7520, and it showed up with OS4.0 on it -- we haven't upped our users devices to 4.0 yet. But no worries there, I've personally been running 4.0 on my 7510 and desktop since release (with outlook 2003, mind you). One of our techs goes to do the setup for him, and installs service pack 3 of the old desktop manager (3.7ish, I think) and tries to sync things up..about halfway thru it bombs out with an error trying to transfer the address book to the device. However, the device registers on the Nextel network no problem, and wireless email reconcilliation is now working fine. He can make calls, send/receive email on the device...just can't get the PIM items to sync, so no contacts/calendar. Clicking on "configure PIM" gives a "configuration synchronization" error.
So, the tech decides to try installing desktop mgr 4.0. Good idea, I'd probably have done the same thing. After installing 4.0, he now doesn't get an error when he hits "configure PIM"...but the only items showing in the Address Book configuration list are ASCII Importer/Exporter, Lotus Organizer 5.0, and Netscape -- no sign of Outlook as a choice at all. Is there a way to get it to recognize Outlook that we're not aware of?
I've personally probably done 40 installs for users, and haven't seen this problem...but this is also the very first 7520 in our environment, I think.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
