Thumbs up SQL BES 4.0 fresh install problem

Please Login to Remove!

I am installed a 4.0 BES for Exchange for the first time. I can sucessfully test the DB connection in the configuration manager but when I attempt to open Blackberry Manager, I get "cannot connect to DB", what gives? In sql, the database seems to be there along with all the tables, etc, but no data in anything. I have tried the reg key fix that some people have tried.

Please HELP!!!!

you logged into the machine using the service account, or did you install BES as the domain/local administrator?

you can probably do a search using these terms - 'cannot connect manager database' - and find quite a few threads with multiple suggestions.

Make sure TCP/IP and Named Pipes are enabled for SQL. You can verify that with the svrnetcn.exe utility.

The message you are getting probably indicates that the BlackBerry server can't get to the SQL database. IF I understand correctly, you can have all the permissions in the world, but when you load the BB Manager, it uses your permissions to get to the BB server to load the manager, then the BB server permissions to access SQL.

Check to make sure the account BlackBerry server runs under has adequate permissions to the SQL database. I believe that's at least dbo, although you could temporarily make it sa for troubleshooting.

I had this problem and what had happened was that a security group had been created to grant access to SQL, but the BB account had not been added to the group. Because the names were very similar, the network admin failed to notice the omission.
