Default AmazeGPS v5 not free

Sadly, they have changed to a paid service. Sure they have a Basic version, but it doesn't do navigation. That seems kind of pointless to me. It wasn't my first choice for navigation because it never was properly ported to the Blackberrry, but I always liked having it around as a backup when NAV4All couldn't find an address. Hopefully Google will bring turn-by-turn navigation to GoogleMaps on the Blackberry and not just keep it for the Droid.

Got something you might like..... Version 5.0 blocked the ability to do navigation with the basic version. However! 4.5 still works just fine and will do full navigation with no restriction I can see.

If you'd like to load the older version, first remove 5.0 and then do a battery pull if it doesn't prompt you to. Then just download 4.5 OTA and you should be all set.

You can get it from here: http://hatax.home.comcast.net/bb/amaze/amAzeGps.jad

Default Amaze gps pay

thanks for the 4.5 link. I appreciate it. that version, albeit free... worked fine for me! Its a great little peice of software for the price. Still surprised the big boys, Garmin, and friends, charge so much for their software considering it is only good for your existing device. I wouldnt mind paying the price if it was able to be ported over to newer phones

Hey, so it works well in Perú?? That's good to know! I've always seen all the countries and such in there, but have no idea how well it works outside of the US.

Also noticed that the 4.5 version now asks you to update! I keep hitting later and it seems to work just fine. Hopefully they won't disable the old version completely. I probably won't keep that download up forever so attention isn't drawn to the old version....

Thanks for the link HaTaX. Now that I can finally use 3G on T-Mobile, amAze isn't half bad.

can you please let me know how to load this to blackberry 8900? I tried using desktop manager but it doesn't allow me to load it using application loader option. I guess it is looking only for alx or ali file type?

The link I provided is supposed to be opened on the BlackBerry browser, not your computer's browser.

Open the link in the BlackBerry browser and it will prompt you to download and install the application.

Thanks so much for posting the link to 4.5! I was so mad after I upgraded to 5.0 today and
found it would not navigate anymore. I will just ignore the prompt's to upgrade. I have used
Amaze in USA, Canada, and Europe and find it indispensable.

Glad it worked out for you! It keeps prompting to update to 5.0, but doesn't seem to have a problem otherwise.

And check your PMs Melven, sent you one about another app that may work for you.

Thank you. The only difference now is that it's prompting me to enter a user name and password, but it was not there before. Is there a way to by pass the log in?
I got a user name and password from their website, but it can not be changed so I need to write it down and keep it in a safe place.

Default Direct Download

Any chance there is a direct download link? Just in case this link stops working. Thanks!

BTW - Thanks for the link, I was crushed when I loaded up v5 and it stopped working.

Well, that link is a direct download, but it's posted on a webserver I use. If anyone else wants to host the files, let me know and I can provide a ZIP with the JAD and COD files.

Otherwise, it won't stay up forever, but it will probably be around for a while.

I just got a message today that as of 1/1/2010 the 4.5 will no longer work. Has anyone else got this message while using Amaze 4.5?
