Default Low Memory on Bold..Screw Me!!

Please Login to Remove!

Well, today started off bad. My Bold alarm didn't seem to go off and it was processing really slowly. This cause me to be late for my first exam and this a bad start of another semester. lol

I was wondering does low memory affect your Bold dramatically, because i think that is what wrong with mine.

It can effect any Blackberry.
Sounds like a battery pull would solve the problem.

And put all your media files on an SD card if you haven't already.

That wouldn't fix the memory issue the op is having. He is referring to low application memory. As said above, do a battery pull, clear the browser cache, run memory cleaner, clear the logs, and close programs that are running in the background.

One minor thing - memory cleaner does not add memory. It overwrites unused memory. How much memory is recovered by clearing the logs? Anyone?

Cant be much. Logs would only be simple text files, not taking up much space.

Yet it is gospel to delete them. And yet, they recover next to nothing.
I just ran it on a 9700. 132+ mb free before. 133+ mb free afterward. 85,736 bytes freed.

A good place to start if you get alot of messages and delete them on your berry.... Goto your messages, then open the menu, options -> email reconciliation. Click menu again and choose purge deleted items. This will clear out the deleted items for your email accounts on your BB, sometimes there's a lot of space taken up here.

Also I would hook the BB to desktop manager and go into the backup and restore advanced area to take a look at the individual database sizes. Just make sure you have a backup BEFORE deleting any of the databases so you can restore if need be.

Check in there and you will get an idea of what databases on your phone are eating up space. Otherwise, if you have an ass load of applications, time to remove some you don't use!

Also, as NJ said above, clearing logs, memory cleaner, etc do little to help. A battery pull does a log clear as it boots up, and memory will most likely be re-arranged, so those things do nothing a battery pull wouldn't for stability / memory usage.

Actually, storing media on the device will also take up space, making is slow down. When i transferred all of my media onto a card, it did in fact make the phone a lot faster.

It's one of the negatives of Blackberry ownership. The dreaded memory issue, common to all blackberries.
