Hey Guys,
I purchased the Storm yesterday and seem to be a bit confused on the web/data plans that Verizon has. What's the main difference between the 44.99 and 29.99 plans besides the price. I chose the 29.99 plan but I'm not really sure what I can do with it, I know email for sure. Can use Viigo, google maps, Google Sync, with the 29.99 plan and not be charged extra? I hope someone can give me a good explanation. Happy Holidays to everyone in here!

the 44.99 plan allows you to tether your phone to a laptop and go online. the 29.99 covers all unlimited data use from your phone only!

modem tethering is 15$

45$ is for BES (if your connecting to your company's e-mail)
30$ is for BIS, = personal e-mail

The difference between the 2 plans is that the $44 plan allows connection to your BES at work. The $29 plan is for personal use with a BIS account (you cannot be connected to a BES with this plan). Not sure about teathering and other things.

tethering is still 15.00 additional to the $44 plan. Verizon sure knows how to rip off us consumers. Give us an unlimted data plan, then say you need to pay more to tether it.

Verizon will give you discounts based on the number of active lines you have on your corporate account.

FYI: Unlimited Data Plan from Verizon is limited to 5GB monthly.

What about using Google Talk or Yahoo messenger? Does that count as data or does it count as SMS messaging?

It uses data, not sms

For $15 more a month it really isn't a terrible deal considering it would cost more to have a dedicated wireless card.

quick point: the problem with tethering is that you can't receive or make calls while your connected to your computer. so if you need both abilities at the same time its not the answer.

This is almost true but then if you think about it you are paying just as much. My data card per month is about 60 a month. While my blackberry runs me about 120 a month. it seems to me that if you are marketing a device feature as "you can use this phone as a modem " you would have that in the 50 corporate plan.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy to pay the 15, just like I'm happy to pay the 3 or 4 for V.Voice mail. but I don't thinks its that great of a deal dreaming you already pay a hefty fee.

You pay 59.99 alone for a wireless card. With a Blackberry or any of our other pda's, you can pay 59.99 a month and get both web and email to your phone along with using the phone as a tethering device. I'd say thats a good deal.
