Considering the PlayBook was released in the UK yesterday, I've seen practically no advertising anywhere in the build up. No hype, nothing.

1. The UK release is an unfortunate repeat of the dismal US release. RIM hasn't learned from their round 1 mistakes.
2. RIM's quarterly call was awful. To make it worse, see this article: Jarislowsky Fraser Sells Half Its RIM Stake

While I won't predict the death of RIM, this all looks pretty bad. RIM is clearly taking a beating. Painful.

Sad. For the first time ever I am not excited about the release of the new BB's later this summer.

If Sprint gets the (rumored) iPhone in the fall, I will likely switch.

I don't like the iPhone
I don't like the Androids (battery life)
I don't like the Windows Phone 7

I have all of them. And RIM, if not on their last legs, is getting close to critical condition.

There's always WebOS... I think it's still around. Nokia, perhaps... dang, wait...

I got it! Feature phone!

I'll see how the WP7 is after the Mango update in the fall.

I've never been a fan of Android phones, and although I have used Windows phones in the past, I just can't get with the look of WP7. It would probably grow on me, though, and Mango looks to be an interesting update (based on bits and pieces I've seen floating around the internet).

For me, the answer was simple. I have a lot invested (time and money) in the iOS platform (iPhone and iPad) that going back to iOS was an easy decision.

I don't mind the iPhone itself, but i hate iTunes and Apple's business practices in general. I know how to manage my music. i don't need you to do it for me. Just give me a drive when i plug the device in and i'll do the rest.

For some reason Android feels cluttered to me, i can't put my finger on it but it just doesnt feel right to me.

WP7 appealed to me for some reason, but the lack of app development for them turns me off a lot.

like juwaack said, i'm not super excited for the new BBs. for the first time i'm not Mr. BlackBerry. i'm not definately going to stick with a blackberry, and it saddens me a bit cause i used to be gung ho about RIM. if i were to stop doing bb administration, i'd probably go with android.

The lack of proper customer support for BlackBerry App World is another negative for RIM. As much as I don't like Apple and iTunes, iPhone is starting to look good.

playbook was pulled by my provider as it does not work on certain wireless networks (cannot vpn in to corporate networks) we have serveral android users and if we turn on active synch on his device our exchange server (2007 sp3) slows down till it stops working completely, when we turn active synch off on his android device all returns to normal, IOS seems to be working okay now but we have random issue with certain appointments and contacts not synching or duplicates. so that is not great either. in our business the demand for blackberry/ios/android is basically driven by our users, so whatever they want to use they can use (small partnership) and i need to make it work.

i think RIM is losing it, the older people in our company still use blackberries but all the new staff we hire request an IOS device. we used to have 100% blackberry and we are now 70% blackberry and 30% IOS. we also have a lots of complaints about blackberry devices and roaming issues, our users travel a lot and i probably get 3-5 calls per week that they cannot get their email while between 2005-2010 i probably had 1 or 2 calls per year. all of a sudden the IOS devices with their bad reception and battery life are not such bad devices anymore.

I wont be jumping ship any time soon. I need push email for system alerts with out killing my battery. Aps with fancy graphics isnt needed on a smart phone for me, just need the basics and if I need more I will use a lapptop or PlayBook.

We're looking at iPhones presently (for integration feasibility)and even a switch from Lotus Domino to Exchange 2010 on the horizion. If we go with Exchange AND open up to iPhones, BlackBerry is going to take a dive on our infrastructure.

Is it true you still can't download the Bridge app from the App World if you're on AT&T? That's ridiculous - how much did Apple pay them to prevent that?

Personally I like the Blackberry 9780 as I don't like touch and I like the long battery life. Charging every day is not really it for me.

I see more and more mixed environments here. Customers demand Blackberry on BES, iPhone and Android on Good. Ideally, BES should manage BB, iPhone and Android.
