Please watch your language on the board here, even your disguised language.

I don't like 'em right now either. They would not upgrade me either a few months ago after 10 years of service and several lines active with them.

My understanding is that T-Mobile has two separate columns on their screen on your account which indicate the last time you:

1. Changed your rate plan
2. Upgraded your handset

Although I changed my rate plan a few months ago, it did not affect my ability to pick up the Curve for their promotional price, since it had been 22 months since I purchased a phone from T-Mobile at a promotional price.

If it makes you feel any better, I DID pay FULL price for the 8100 from T-Mobile a few months ago, since I had my heart set on getting my hands on one.

P.S. Anyone interested in buying my unlocked white 8100 in pretty much perfect condition?

i have been month to month for 6 months now and have not upgraded any devices, i paid 250 after mir..... custumer for 8 yrs (shy by 2 from the other guy) with 3 lines family planed....tmobile needs to rething some customer retention policy.

couple of months ago i considered att, however i did not because they charge for everything.... tethering, gps, etc, etc.

at the time my rep at the store said call them and be stern about leaving you get transfered to a dept called save the deal, presumably they can give you any phone at any price they choose....i didnt do it because i just wanted the phone and i didnt want to wait, (hence ealry adopter tax)....

maybe it can work for you.

I'm thinking about switching too, we only get $50 off? My bill gets higher every month and I never go over my minutes or roam. I have unlimited sms, mms, email, mobile 2 mobile, and data specifically so there are no surprises when my bill comes...

I got $350 - $50 for a 1 year contract upgrade

Its $300 - $50 for a 2 year contract upgrade.

I do 1 year upgrades for this very reason, so I can upgrade every year.

Yeah, we can see when you have last don't an upgrade at the promo price so if you are still mid-contract you will not be getting the promotional or new customer prices.

I understand, and you will not be getting almost $500 per month from me for the next ten years, as TMo did the past ten. I know I am not the biggest customer, far from it, but my loyalty to TMo was worth nothing at all. Nothing.

a few years back i ordered a phone from tmo directly, they screwed up and wound up in a delivery problem. anyhow i wound up getting charged twice for 1 phone, and it took 3 weeks to get it.

in the end, tmo issued me a credit for everything, so i got the phone for free, and they gave me 6 months of free service too.

it's a hard deal to turn down. yeah they always come up a bit late with tech and have some issues, but so does AT&T. no carrier is perfect.
verizon, btw, is just hideous. never do verizon.

AT&T is the kind of company that's so big, they don't care if they screw a few ppl over real bad.

If you are being offered an upgrade price below the invoice price, or even the same price as is offered to new customers, then you are being treated pretty fairly. That is a 40% to 50% price break on the phone! What is wrong with that? Especially since the Curve is the most coveted current phone on T-Mobile.

Why did T-Mobile not offer you an upgrade? Had you already done one within the last few months? Was your account in good standing? There really aren't many reasons for them not to do one. I get customers who have done upgrades six months ago getting angry that they can't get the full discount on a phone and it just doesn't make sense to me...

Some people just think they deserve more than other customers because they are special.

Well if you got any kind of discount from from the T-Mobile list of $449, you are doing better than me. I bought my 8700 within a month of the release and have over 7 months left on a 2 year contract. I went to purchase a 8320 at the store and expected to pay full price but though I would check for a deal anyway. Here is how the conversation went.

TMO "Let's see what we can do for you."
Me "Cool, here is my phone number..."
TMO checks computer, waits, waits, still waiting...
TMO (happy) "Well, I can offer you $50 off if you renew with a 2 year contract"
Me (apathetic) "So $50 off and I get almost a 3 year contract?"
TMO (happy) "No, no, we void the remaining 8 months and you will have a new 2 year contract starting today."
Me "Hmm, I think that I will just forget the discount and be free in 8 months"
TMO "Okay"
TMO rings up phone
TMO "That will be $486.04... Wow that is more than my paycheck!"
Me "Okay then, thanks for the phone."

Just like I thought, I ended up paying full price becuase it just didn't make sense any other way. I know I got screwed on the price but in the greater scheme of things it just didn't seem all that bad.

Same here if I leave! Thats 12K per year taken away from TMobiles' B/line. Piss off some more smaller customers ; well you do the math.

Huh? $250 is the new customer price for the 8320. That's the most you can ask for. I wouldn't expect it to ever get an upgrade for any cheaper than new customer price. The new customer price is already fully subsidized.
