I hear that RIM employees have it now but its crap. I wonder what they ripped apart. I hear that there will be another build coming this week though that improves on 4.5.0.40

Internally, they're releasing near-daily releases of the code, hence why you may have heard the 'crap' review of it. OS 4.5.0.37 was the last version released outside of RIM, although it has had issues with UMA, hence the fixes for it in .38 and .39 (and I guess now .40). I think the extra attention being paid to the OS is definitely a sign they want to get this in final state to the carriers for certification and release in the next 1-2 months.

It needs the extra work. I played with .40 briefly. They ripped the OS apart apparantly to fix something.

I Just got .37, hopefully they fixed the issue where hidden/moved icons would revert back to default whenever the phone is rebooted, which is something I do to clear up the memory leak... compounding issues, haha

Not for me. I have .37 on my 8310 and the icons all go back to default after a reboot. Very annoying nonetheless because I don't use any of AT&T's installed apps. No memory leak though. One more step in the right direction.

I remember when OS 4.2 came out the first version on the Pearl was 4.2.0.42. RIM has been through builds 4.3.1 up to .27. Then they switched to 4.5.0 and started over again and are now up to app version .60? That's a lot of builds. I just hope when someone releases something that it's finally stable.

True, that is alot of builds. I am wondering if when the final release comes out they don't go to a new revision scheme, something like 4.5.1.10.

I see there was a .28 for the 8310, I wonder if .28 for the 8320 was a better build then .37 or if it even made it into the wild at all?

Looks like it's not too far off, I'd bet we see it before the 4th of July.
