I installed BBAlerts (the latest version) on my Pearl, and like some others posted recently I couldn't get the SMS alert to work. After a lot of fiddling around, I ended up enabling the alert for voicemail, and now when I get an SMS I get an alert as if I have a voicemail. In other words, the program alerts me as if I've received a voicemail when I've actually received an SMS.

I have no idea why this is happening, but I'm going to keep it as is because it's the only way I can get a customized alert for SMS to work. I haven't received a voicemail since I noticed this so I can't check if the program has completely mixed up SMS and voicemail (for instance if it also thinks I received an SMS when I actually received a voicemail).

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so please be gentle. I downloaded the latest registered version of the Alerts program. Is BB Alerts supposed to replace the functionality of the profile alerts or work hand in hand with it? For example, in my normal profile, which is the one I use, do I turn off all alerting and let BB Alerts take care of it?

its a hand-in-hand kind of thing...
BB Alerts takes care of _repeating_ the alerts that your normal profiles take care of the _initial_ alerts for...

Wirelessly posted (bb8320TMO: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Well, I had 1.41 upt till few days ago and I was happy. The new 1.6x adds the ability to filter emails and adds another user customizable color.

Unless things have changed, the latest version should be here: http://bbymel.servebbs.com/latest/BlackBerryAlerts.jad

Is that possible to add wifi status led when the wifi is activated?
I have tried on bb8820, it is good, but I seem slow down my bb. After removed it, everything goes normally. Should it compatibility on bb8820?

Default SMS Notification

I have tried registered versions 1.41, 1.5, and 1.65 and SMS notification alerts do not work for me. Early on when i first tried it, I thought they did work for a couple of days. I have the BB8130 on BES on Sprint and have configured everything correctly since all other notifications seem to work.

When I receive an SMS message, the LED is the default RED alert and there will be no repeating alerts. I have gone into permissions for BB Alerts and set whatever I could to Allow or Prompt.

My BB is on the Sprint OS v. 4.3.0.71.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Default To The Developer Of Bb Alerts

hello again,

i have requested this before; i'm certain that i am not alone when i say this to you:

1) do you reply or address the issues that i or others have emailed to you or "private message[d]" you about?
2) do we have to continue to sift thru a thousand plus threads to know what version we are at? and to know what the changes have been made...if any!
3) do you have a log of changes or a website where your potential and current customers can see?
4) do you plan on one? if so, when?
5) do you have an email list where if bb alerts is updated we are all notified?

you've been developing this product for at least a year now. though it does work at times, the instructions on how to set up bb alerts are worthless. in fact, you need instructions to actually understand the instructions. your product has a lot of potential, but it seems that bb alerts is not on your priority list and as a result the product may not actually achieve its potential . i'm not the first one that has made these requests, and i suspect i may not be the last. please, at least address some of these concerns; if you can, if not make sure you address NUMBER 1 on the list above.

1) Private messages tend to work better, I don't think I have not responded to any.
2-4) Yes, working on a new web site. Should be ready in 2 weeks or so. The thread is old so not the best to navigate I agree, it's good to get information from but not solve problems with.
5) No sorry... most updates are for bug fixes so if you don't have any issues then no need to upgrade.

Default Idle light options?

Could some one please help me on this one....

what is this Idle alert option in BB alerts all about? why do you guys use it. Also what are these three options used for.

1. Flash LED
2. Coverage indicator
3. No coverage indicator

Please correct me if i am wrong.

1. Flash LED (dont know what it means??? does it mean Flash for no reason all the time? )

2. Flash if coverage is available. ( but then it flashes even if I turn off the Radio so that I am not talking to the wireless carrier netwrok)

3. flash when no coverage is there?

Please shed light on this...
thanks

This is the exact same problem I have. Maybe we'll get it figured out some day. I know BBymel has looked into it a little bit, but I think he's as perplexed as we are....

look at post 1057 AND 1058 (and many, many others). these are the general sentiments of your clients...utterly confused.

by the way, you HAVE NOT responded to all my emails and private messages. the only time you did (take note people) was when i publicly posted on this forum; my complaint about the lack of response from you. you did once, and then i never heard from you again.

Whoa, easy, Tiger. Don't be dragging me into your personal vendetta. It's true that I'm very disappointed that I can't get the SMS notification to work, but I'm not ready to give up on BByMel yet. I love this program and couldn't live without it. I just wish it would work for SMS. It's frustrating to miss SMS messages because the stupid stock alert quits flashing after 15 minutes and goes back to green. But I blame RIM for that dumb design, not BByMel.

livspop,

i said these are others "sentiments." "it is not a vendetta." and it isn't personal. i'm probably voicing other people's feelings (aka sentiments). in fact, after your accusation of me having a "[personal] vendetta" you went on a rant for about 95% of your paragraph illustrating your frustration about the program's deficiencies...i.e., my suggestion about other peoples "sentiments." btw, in your attempt to highlight the program, you actually did exactly the opposite...see developer!
