Looks like Bell just released 4.5 for the 8830...
This will load on ANY carrier's 8830 by following the instructions below.
This is only for the 8830 model

Software For BlackBerry® 8830 World Edition smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.177 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.177
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.127
* Software Platform: 3.4.0.20
* File name: 8830AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel177_PL3.4.0.20_A4.5.0.127_Bel l_Mobility.exe
* File size: 81.37MB

Download the OS here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...646D38BC2145CA

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8830:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS here:

Any reason this would not work on the Verizon 8830?

I'm actually lost on this, I just threw the 8330 4.5.0.131 on my VZW 8830. (Yes you read, and I wrote that last sentence correctly.) Is this a downgrade then from the package .188 and applications .131? Other than it being an "official" release, I don't see a reason not to use the Curve 8330 package.

Has anybody noticed any differences with either .127 or .131? I am not sure which one to use.

Yes this would be a downgrade for you.. carriers have yet to release the latest and greatest version. Beta's will always be a step ahead of the game.

Anyone noticing memory leak problems with 4.5.0.127 on 8830? My free memory seems to be dropping from ~12MB after battery pull restart to ~ 7.5MB within5-6hrs later. And that is just with the BB sitting on the table and not using it.

The only apps I have installed are GMail and Google Maps.

How much free RAM are the rest of you seeing?

I've had mine running all day and have 13.8MB. I have no 3rd party apps installed at the moment.

I did the same thing with my 8830... I think I will run 4.5.0.131 for a while before making any changes...

Problem seems to be related to Documents2Go. When I removed it, free memory has been holding at ~13MB for >24 hours. Seems Docs2Go has a memory leak problem. I was using the newest version of Docs2Go from Dataviz website.
