when using the touch screen keyboard, predictive text is active, is it possible to turn it off? in the options it only says direct, predictive and corrective..

If you've found the option to disable predictive text, why not use that option.

the only options that are given are 'direct', 'corrective' and 'predictive'.
nothing that suggests it will turn it off...

I don't have a 9800 in front of me right now, I have had in the past. But I recall the option being there.

You will want to UNcheck the Predictive option.

Predict words as you type
You can set your BlackBerry® device to display a list of suggested words as you type.
1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
2. Click Language and Text Input.
3. Click Show Text Input Options.
4. Select the Predictive Input check box.
5. Press the Menu key.
6. Click Save.
To stop predicting words as you type, clear the Predictive Input check box.

Yes,set it on"Direct"

I loathe predictive but find corrective is SOOOO usefull for fat finger attacks.
