Question Stream media over WiFi / BB wifi browser?

Please Login to Remove!

Now that my BB 8820 is happily surfing on wireless using the BB wifi browser, does anyone know how or have suggestions about getting media (audio or video) to stream over the WiFi connection?
Some standard websites like Youtube don't work because Flash does not load correctly, but if there are any alternatives that work, it would be great to get audio or video streaming over the WiFi browser, or even by a Java app (as long as it uses the WiFi connection).

this site gets videos from youtube, and other such sites and make it work on ur blackberry and other mobile devices.. u can either open the videos and stream them or save them to ur phone. i usually choose the hi res option and the videos look great.

Hmm... everytime I try the high res option I get the "Request entity is too large" error, even on WiFi.

that's a cool site, and the videos played ok, but they were not streaming - the whole file would download, then play. that is alright but i'm also interested if it is possible to get streaming to work =)

is it through the browser or some other app? i'd prefer something free but if that works well i might consider it ;)

is that when opening the file or downloading it? try to save it to a memory card or something, i've saved files up to 5mb that way and that is far larger than most of the videos on that site

Yeah, I am saving it to the microSD (4GB with over 2GB free space) and the error is right before I select to save.
Now it may be just a size vs length, because other items that are over 6min get the same error while one that was 5:15 and 4MB downloaded fine.

i never get any error, neither does my friend. oh well. i know for sure the blackberry doesn;t currently support flash sites like youtube, but that will be fixed in the next OS release. so have no fear. just do like the rest of us and wait for OS 4.5

Well, I know its not just my 8320 'cause my 8800 has the same issue (not on WiFi, of course, because the 8800 doesn't have it).

You can download the "BlackBerry" version of XM as opposed to carrier specific version

It does not cover streaming over BB, as I am also a customer. Not sure which channels you get, but go to xmradio.com/bbol and follow the instructions for downloading via text message.

So is XM the only one that offers something like this?

Does anyone know what the requirements are, or how someone could accomplish the same thing without XM?
