Default Question re: Entourage, Enterprise Server and Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I am currently a Mac Mail user. I also have a Blackberry and am on an Enterprise Server. If I switch to Entourage, will the address book and calendar entries sync to my Blackberry through the server as Outlook would on a PC?

If Entourage is properly configured to "talk" to your Exchange server at your office, then yes.

Default Entourage - Blackberry multi-emails

We have an Exchange 2003 server and use the verizon network blackberry server to provide company email to sales blackberries. One of our users has a Mac laptop with Mac Office 2008 Entourage as the email client. When he click on an email on his Mac, he gets multiples of that email on his blackberry. We have turned off the airport and blue tooth on this Mac without any changes. We have spoken with Verizon tech support and even wiped the account and replaced the blackberry. Other users are on Windows PC and have no problem with extra email messages.
Thanks
Charles

I think your problem lies with Entourage. When a Mac user runs Entourage, the user has to set up every setting and filter. It is a real pain, so much so that I went back to the Apple apps and trashed Entourage.

Entourage also does not support Categories. Thus, if you have your Contacts organized into Categories, Entourage will not recognize them. In addition, there are issues with Sent Items not synchronizing properly when sent from Entourage. Do a search and you will find the thread here (I know, because I was one of the people who raised the issue.

I tried Entourage for a while but gave up and now run Outlook in a Virtual Machine under VMWare Fusion (or Parallels).

My suggestion, if you can wait a bit, is to dump Entourage and wait for Snow Leopard. Full exchange support for all apps out of the box.

ifonline! WHEN WHEN WHEN is that!? That sounds just great! Ive been waiting for this! I wonder if we will be able to have different calendar categories..and colors synced to our exchange..

Now all we need left is for blackberry to come up with a color coded categories in the calendar!

See here:

Apple - Mac OS X Leopard - Snow Leopard

The page says "scheduled to ship in about a year" but that page is quickly approaching a year old. I'm hoping first part of 2009 for a release.

I'd like full Exchange support too. It would solve a lot of problems. But, it appears that support will be limited to Email, Calendar and Contacts (just as the iPhone is now). If that is correct, it means no Memo or Tasks will synch.

Good point, but then for my needs, I only want to sync the Address Book. Syncing the Calendar would be nice, I suppose, but don't need Tasks and Notes at home. I have my BlackBerry everywhere I go, which obviously does sync it all.

However, I don't understand how Apple suggests they offer Exchange support. Maybe they should call it Most of Exchange Support!

Do you folks think RIM will slam a door in Snow Leopards face?

Or that Apple will cripple the cool sync to be for iPhone only?
