Id still recommend a holster. You dont want to start seeing little blemishes or scratches. You will be broken hearted.

I don't like anything but one key and my phone in my pockets and absolutely nothing on my belt. I just put my BB to sleep and stick it in my pocket. Works great.
Batman for sure! That's what my wife calls it: my Bat Belt! Sure, I look dorky... That is until someone needs a pliers or Phillips screwdriver out in the middle of nowhere! Then I look pretty kewl [although most of the time, I'm just dorky-lookin'].

Lock the keyboard and then put it in standby mode?

I set my right quick button to lock keyboard. Once is locked, it will automatically go standby mode. You unlock it when u need to use. I keep my curve in my pocket all the time.

It was mentioned "that If you are not using your ptt button on the left, remap it to keylock. "
Could you please explain to me how to do that. I am VERY new to my Pearl 8130 and I know next to nothing about using it.
Thanks

I bought one of those clear plastic cases, and used that for a while. It doesn't have a sleeper magnet, of course, but it's easy enough to hit the mute button. And it covers the screen as well. But....I agree with the premise that carrying the exposed keyboard and trackball in a pocket is asking for trouble. Dust will get in there, and that's bad news for those trackball bearings. So I'm back to the leather case that came with the Curve. It definitely stays cleaner.

There's no need to lock the keyboard if you put in in standby.

Unless you have burlap pants, it's not really an issue as long as you don't pocket the BB with anything else in the same pocket. I'd recommend a screen protector at the least though.

Should be under Options->Screen/Keyboard.
