Hi my name is Sabin and I'm a Crackberry addict. Also I'm new to the forums, HI.
Question:
Is there a way to have the phone vibrate only when it is in standby mode. So when I press the standby button, if I get a call it will only vibrate. And if it isn't in standby mode it will behave and sound normally, as in it will use the ring tone to announce that I have a call.

I don't beleive that this is possible. When it's in standby it's IN standby... I would suggest reviewing your options for profiles and notifications the device can be configured in many different ways (Just please don't ask if it can Vibe AND ring at the same time...it CAN'T no matter how many people want it too!)

Whats this In Holster, or Out of Holster business? I read the site you posted above, but I already know how to get to the menu, I just don't understand the difference or what it is, or how it can tell (if all that makes any sense). Also the maps feature, if you don't have a data plan, will your provider charge you for using it?

Holster is a case that the device is placed in to carry it. It usually has a magnet in it and the magnet tells the device it is holstered. If you don't have one then the settings that you need to modify are for out of holster.

As far as maps go....yes you will incur data and I am sure the carrier will charge you for it.
