Exclamation missing browser icon

Please Login to Remove!

we have bought several new blackberries. One the browser is working and always has. Two had a browser icon a month ago but it has disappeared this week. Three is new - got this week - browser icon missing and nothing tech support has done has made the slightest change to the problem.

Blackberry RIM says it is Sprints and Nextel's problem. Sprint says it is RIM's problem. Nextel has not weighed in yet. Has anyone a clue to what is going on here and how to resolve it?

On Two the browser is listed under service book. On Three the browser software is installed but is not there under the service book. Sprint has been "working on this" for four days.

Did you try resending the service book? You have to do that in the BWC.

are these devices connected to a Bes or BWC?

If a BES, are these devices MDS enabled? If not this is why the Browser icon is not showing, however the WAP browser should come through, if Nextel provide this. Enable MDS then recradle. the browser service book will be sent and swill be shown in Service Book of teh device - desktop ippp

if a bwc. check if you are set up with wap apn from your service provider. also on device check u have services ippp and also the services wap trans entry.

Hi Guys,

Maybe the users have accidentally hidden the Browser icon in your home screen?

You can try this :
on home screen, press the alt key and click the track wheel. Then choose the "show all" option.

For your information, you can do some hide / unhide the Home screen icons using the alt + track wheel.

Before, delete all your services book manualy on your handheld, and then register again the Host Routin Table.
I had this problem for 2 month, didn't know how to solve it, but this solution worked for me.

I called nextel on this problem and they said that Rim will not allow them to have the browser on bb's unless they sell an additional data service.

Yeah right. The Nextel representative doesn't know what he is talking about. Nextel can have the Internet Browser only on the following models: 7510 (requires at least 4.0.2 handheld software), 7520 and 7100i. If you have another model it won't work.

If anyone is having problems getting the icon to appear on the BB, check this link to make sure you have the service books.

http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...?nodeid=787076

If you are not getting the service books, your service for the browser is not active, your not running latest handheld code or it's not supported by your model. Here is a model list for some other carriers.

T-Mobile: 7100, 7290, 8700
Cingular: Any model running at least 4.0.2 handheld software
Verizon: Any model

Recently bought a 7520 from Nextel for $0.01 after rebate and tried to go cheap on data plan for $29.99. Had no HTML browser but did have WAP. Decided to go for $39.99 plan and now have full internet browser.

If you do not go with the $39.99 plan you will have no html browser. It is up to your provider on what they give with what plan no matter what RIM says. RIM only requires a data plan.
