Wink Unlock BlackBerry 8820 AT&T ?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I've bought a BlackBerry 8820 AT&T.
It should be unlocked ( at least this is what I'm told :-S )

I've tried to get started and I'm getting a "Invalid SIM card" message now.
I think this device is locked, but I' m not 100 % sure of this.

If it's locked, is there anything I can do ?

lots of thanks in advance !

Here's how to check whether it's locked:

Options > Advanced Options > SIM Card. On that screen, type MEPD (you won't see it anywhere, but type anyway).

That will reveal a few more entries. If all options are "Disabled" then the phone is unlocked. If SIM shows as "Enabled" then it is locked.

If it is locked, I highly recommend Cell Phone Unlock Codes | UniquePhones - they've got great turn-around time. It's a little more than other sites, but I was very impressed with the speed of delivery.

When I go to "advanced options" > "SIM card"

I'm getting the following error:
"SIM card: No Valid SIM card"

Can't see any numbers there

I've 2 working SIM cards to test with.
when using the first one, BB asks the pin code.
when using the second one, BB never asks the pin code

the AT&T logo is still visible after a wipe of the device.
Do I have to update the ROM to remove this and should a ROM upgrade solve the problems ?!

The at&t logo cannot be removed by publicly available software.

as mentioned before:
- can't use unlock codes
- can't totally wipe the device and remove the AT&T logo + limitations

... so this means there's totaly no way to unlock this device ?

I tought that every BlackBerry device was unlock-able

oops, sorry you where right. I've did it incorrectly...

the following output shows up:

SIM Disabled
Network Active
Network subset Disabled
Service provider Disabled
Corporate Disabled

...so it's locked...
