Default Verizon released 4.5.x for 8830?

Please Login to Remove!

Today when I went to sync my berry (VZW 8830) it said that there was a software update. After I tried to update it said I was up to date (I'm currently running v4.5.0.101 beta).

- Did Verizon finally, actually release 4.5.x?
- I'm assuming I did not update because my .101 is either the same or higher rev to what Verizon released?

No need to go to crackberry. You can find instructions on loading 135 in a sticky at the top of this 8800 Series Discussion.

When I spoke to Verizon a couple weeks ago they said sometime mid-March but they have always been late in my experience.

I talked with a VZW tech person 2-3 weeks ago and she told me they had no release date for a new OS since the RIM updates "hadn't been fully tested." She actually seemed to be genuinely surprised that I would want HTML email or other features and recommended that I just buy a 3rd party browser because that wouldn't void my warranty.

My wife had to swap in her 8830 for a new one, and the new one came with OS 4.5.0.127 loaded. I could not find a Verizon download, so I loaded the Bell version. The OS 4.5.0.127 has the GPS enabled. Either Verizon has the new OS ready to go, and it will be out VERY soon, or my wife's 8830 was just a lucky lottery find.

Does the GPS work with anything other than BB Maps?

I upgraded to 4.5.0.135 and have tried Nav4all, amazegps, Sprint Nav, googlemaps......they all worked with my bt puck, but none worked with the internal gps other than b maps.......

Reports are the gps ONLY works with BBmaps and Verizon's Navigator program on the 8830 with the new OS (not supported yet by verizon)
