Exclamation Blackberry Desktop Manager and Outlook 2010 beta

Please Login to Remove!

I am using Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.01 on Windows 7 x64 and can not get it sync with Outlook 2010 beta x64. When I go into the Setup portion of Synchronization for with Address book or Calendar to select Outlook as my application it is not on list of applications just Outlook Express, Yahoo, and another one that escapes me right now. I reload Blackerry Desktop manager over again with the same results. It work fine with Outlook 2007 but not Outlook 2010 beta. Has anyone else have this problem? Hopeful there will be a fix from RIM soon.

How is this a problem?
I don't see any "fix" coming from RIM for a problem that doesn't exist.

Don't see a fix until the Beta becomes real.

Default Solution for outlook 2010 sycn with Blackberry

Dear all, I have been using my Blackberry 7100v for about 4 years now, my interest has always been on Outlook sync with blackberry..

With regards to the beta, some good news to all. You can sync it. If you are using Outlook 2003 or 2007 and want to try out Outlook 2010beta. now is a good time.

a) Outlook 2010 beta2 is quite bug free and is free for official download from microsoft website. Get it and it will work till October 2010. I can't post links here as I have <10 posts, but here it is if you are lazy to google it..... tinyurl.com/yexjp89 (copy and paste into address bar)

b) Also google outlook 2007 trial and download the official one from microsoft, complete with license key and such. This file is smaller than getting the whole office 2007 trial. I can't post links here as I have <10 posts, but here it is if you are lazy to google it.... tinyurl.com/63fruh (copy and paste into address bar)

c) backup your outlook files, install outlook 2007 trial, activate it. This will create a PROFILE which will work with blackberry desktop 4.1 and above. i am using 5.1 as of now. This profile is important, you can see it under control-panel->mail->Profiles.

d) Open your outlook file, check all contacts/task/calendars are there, sync with your BB....works

e) Install 2010 beta2, either upgrade OR clean install no matter, because this will not destroy the profile (2010 beta1 wasn't so nice, it killed the profile, not beta2). After installation, launch 2010 and see that your contacts are still there, do a sycn and it will work. If you did an upgrade, it's okay to uninstall office 2007/2003.

f) If you are adventurous, click on file under 2010 and you can convert most of your old outlook.pst files to the newer version for more features, smaller size etc. Even for Excel, word, onenote 2010. I escpecially loved onenote 2010, works great with my outlook 2010. Dont' worry, you can convert BACK to the old 2007/2003 version later in October 2010 if you decides not to upgrade.

Hope that helps

Default Try the 32 bit Office Beta

I believe the problem is because the 32 bit BB Desktop cannot find the 64 bit Office. I was facing a different issue with 64 bit Office, so I switched to the 32 bit version. After I did this, BB Desktop was able to sync again.

I'm running Windows 7 with the 64 bit Office 2010. I reinstalled the Outlook 2007 into the Program Files (x86) Folder and recovered the profile option for Desktop Manager. Surprisingly, both run on my system and ope the same PST file, although I only make changes in the Outlook 2010 beta. The only change after the installation was a minor pop-up in 2010 when it loads. It is a blank message with a click button. Once I click through 2010 opens and I have no problems.

Outlook 2010 is not recognized by Desktop Manager (even with the Mar 31 update)

This is probably RIM not wanting to support a 'beta' product.

No way around it for now it seems.

Angry When will Desktop Manager sync with Outlook 2010 RTM

Outlook 2010 is no longer in beta, yet there is no support from RIM!

Outlook was in beta long enough for Blackberry to have a Beta connector as well. To say that "Outlook is beta therefore don't expect support" is rediculous as we all know that it will eventually release. Now we are left in a position where we cannot sync to Outlook anymore.

When is the fix coming, yes the FIX.

Office 2010 will be supported once when is available for consumers. That will be in June

I have found several 32 bit products that do not work with 64 bit Outlook, including Adobe Reader.. Seems like a fairly big deal to me.

[QUOTE=BB-Tech support;1602576]Office 2010 will be supported once when is available for consumers. That will be in June

Given all the publicity and impact of social media (guys like us that post on this forum) to spread the word virally (either positive or negative), someone at RIM should seriously consider working in tandem with Microsoft and having these work together. My guess is that if you look at the % of users that also use Outlook it would be the dominant email application.

Even if its a beta desktop release but be in sync with the outlook beta!

Doesn't RIM have to do some empirical product testing anyway? I simply don't understand the *non* logic when you could have your core enthusiasts and early adopters on board and signing your praises online....

Default No luck so far

Beyond beta still no support for Outlook 2010. Got a new PC with Win7Pro and Office 2010, installed DM5.1, pluged in my 8900, was recognised fine.
DM says something like "set up your sync preferences", I set up all like desired, but in the end of that the error message popped up "no message store available". Preferences were not saved and do sync takes place.
Already recreated profile, changed exchange cache mode, copied older mapi.dll into the dm-folder, no luck so far.

Complete joke that RIM hasn't got off their **sses and delivered an update to sync w Outlook 2010. How do they think people use their devices? That's why I'm back to iPhone, where syncing with 2010 has never been an issue.

Many people use their devices on BES.
Works perfectly no matter what version of Outlook you are on.

I guess the consumer market will never be happy with the BlackBerry. Different devices for different people.

with BES ist is not the version of outlook, but your exchange-server, that matters. AFAIK there are several problems with BES and the new EX2010, too.
On the other side, I'm not a consumer. But I work for a little company with only 3 BB-Users. We have no budget and ressources for yet another server application. I had no problems with BIS for a long time, when I used Outlook 2003. But now got a new PC...

Still no timeframe for support. Lovely. This forum won't let me post the link because I don't have enough posts (lame), but it's KB20654 on RIM's support site: blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB20 654

Hope they get this fixed soon. A Blackberry isn't terribly useful to me if I can't synch it with my Outlook contacts, tasks, calendar, etc.
