Default Sell new phone and go back to old?

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded to a BB Storm. Nice device, but touch screen is not for me. I tried to use a borrowed iPhone and use an iTouch a while back. The Storm is MUCH better than their touch screen, but I just like having the keyboard (and yes I did upgrade the OS today and gave it a try).

Now to my question. Can I sell my Storm and just reactivate my old BB without any issues from Verizon? It should not matter as long as I keep my contract for 2 years? Thanks for any input.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I think the OP wants to sell his phone and keep old device. I am NOT sure of all of the ramifications. At a minimum, you are locked to a two year contract.

Yes - I know I can just return it, but I see then selling on ebay for a large amount and just use my old phone until my next upgrade time.

I believe he can cancel contract within the 30 day period...thats what I understood from my recent renewal/upgrade to the bold.

I've done that. The only downside is you lose your new every two and aren't eligable for upgrade. If you sell it on ebay- you will get more then the new contract price, but usually less then full retail, as long as they are in stock. if its out of stock and everyone wants one, then well over full retail would be expected

If your happy with your old phone and ok paying full retail if you need to, your good to go. I had insurance luckily and shortly after selling my "upgrade"(treo i think) my phone took a swim. Timing was on my side and a new model just came out and they were out of stock in my phone. My only problem was the older model was better imo!

Cliff Notes:
VZW never had an issue with me doing it

Well I was thinking about just sending it back, but I am happy with my old phone and saw that they were selling for high prices on ebay and thought I could just sell it go back to my old and wait until my next upgrade time - which for me is 1 year as a "VIP" client of Verizon - what ever that means!

Thanks!

either way yoru good to go- if you wait the 2 year, then you can get the 100 off, if you do the one year, you lose your 100 credit, but do get the discounted price.

I've done both, you have options and i've not had any issues selling a "new" phone on ebay...i think one stip was that i had to have the data for 30 days or so- i can't remember, it was on a treo 650, if that dates this i've done it on regular phones as well. VZW is also really good about taking back phones your not happy with, never had an issue there either

Well with the Storm going for $600-$900 on ebay and me only paying $160-$50 MIR = $110, I can afford to loose the $100 after one year upgrade. I currently have an 8830, maybe I will buy a used Curve for the next year and then go with what is out. I would like the Niagra (Bold on Verizon), but there is much debate on when it will be out (Q1-2 or 2009 or Q3-4 or 2009)?

Thanks for the input.

Thats a hard sell, i'd probably dump it on ebay- you could easily buy a full retail for that price, i think the curve on att was going for 329 full retail.

I'm a new BB user, i actually have a VZW line i no longer use, waiting out a month on contract, because i wanted an iphone, now i'm carrying the curve, couldn't be happier, having carried all the HTC sliders, moto q, treos, iphone-- the curve , is a great phone/pda.

best of luck-- its a win win for you!!
