When I plug in my BB9780 to the charger, the Red LED lights up and stays on for about 20 seconds and then goes off(ive tried with two different BB chargers). It does not blink and the battery is not getting charged. Could it be an issue with the charging port. The phone works if I put in another battery but the charging issue remains. Any pointers would be appreciated.

If the second battery works and you cannot charge that battery then you may have a port issue. Have you tried a different cable or your battery in a different BB to see if it charges? If yes to cable and battery then it may be a connector. the pins on the micro usb are easily damaged if the connector is not pulled out straight
