Default External Headset Adapter?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm wondering if anyone else has solved this problem. I want to use my 9000 with a VOIP type headset. These headsets have two 3.5mm plugs, one is standard 3.5mm audio for speakers / earphones, and one for the microphone. The 9000 has a 3.5mm jack for the combined audio / mic setup that is standard for cell phone headsets.

Does anyone know if there is a 3.5mm "splitter" that would allow someone to plug in the mic + audio as separate inputs? It would seem like someone should have solved this problem by now.

Thanks.

What you're trying to do is not possible because the 3.5mm socket is just a standard 2 channel stereo out socket. There is no facility for the voice input that you would need.

However,if you can lay your hands on a bluetooth VOIP headset,I see no reason why that wouldn't work.

I don't know if there is an adapter that the OP is asking about, but there definitly is a facility for connecting a mic on the 3.5mm jack.

Yes of course there must be,I don't know what I was thinking earlier. That'll teach me to browse the forum when I'm meant to be working.

There must be a microphone connection in that socket so that you can use a standard wired handsfree kit.I've never seen an adaptor but i suppose if you knew how you could chop the plug off a wired handsfree kit and solder it to the cable of your VOIP headset.

Smith_RS: I am looking for the same solution. So far only Monster Cable isonitalk and Shure MPA-3c have a partial solution, they'll let you plug in your headphones, but you would have to use the built in microphone that is part of the adapter. For home use it will probably be OK.

If you get any of these adapters post results of your experience.

I found this online:

Amazon.com: Headset Buddy: PC Headset to 3.5mm Smartphone Adapter: Convert Dual 3.5mm to 3.5mm, PC Computer Headset to iPhone, Blackberry, Droid, Palm, Samsung, LG, HTC: Electronics

I ordered it. I'll post again once I've had a chance to test it.
