Wired headphones? It should switch automatically. If it doesn't, make sure the headphones are plugged in completely. If it still doesn't work, remove the battery and reboot the device and try again. If it still doesn't work you may have a defective device.

the headphone jack work for the phone just fine. just not the mp3 player. I was wondering if there was a key sewuence or something, or if i need a special pair of headphones.

I've tried 3 different sets of headphones and went thru all the config settings that i could find.

thanks for your help

I know that when a song is playing (and perhaps even when it isn't), if you hit the menu button (the one to the left of the trackball) while in the media player, it give the option for "handset" or "headphones." I suppose you've tried this, but it might be worth looking at.

After trying three different 2.5mm-3.5mm adapters from Radio Shack, the best result I have been able to get is music coming through only one channel at a time, but no stereo. It appears that the device jack may be incorrectly designed or defective.

Send him over to my desk!!

The adapters from Radio Shack DO NOT work.

Try one of these adapters, they DO work.

I got the adapter from a verizon wireless store and it worked fine with the newest os software version. The original stock OS software did not route audio through the headset in media player, i got the newest OS update and it worked out of the box.
