Default Master Code/Password?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone, I received a 8700 series BB for free, but the keypad is locked. The only hitch is the cover is cracked, but that's purely cosmetic. What are my options?

I do have a data cable btw, is there free software for unlocking these keypads or ANYTHING like that?

Thanks in advance.....

None if the security is set. get the password. Multiple attempts may show a countdown. If so it's heading for a complete wipe of the software. Restoring the OS will only put the security back.

Okay, that's definitely an option..... the gentleman works at my place of business. He is unaware however, that I have his old phone because he RECYCLED it with just a cracked cover, and when I saw it I snagged it up.

Unbeknownst to him, you can get new front covers fairly cheap.

Talking

Tell him you have it and if he dosent mind you will try to fix it and use it. He may feel generous and give you the password. If he tossed it out he should be willing to give the password up. He may want to unlock it and then reset the password to something you want to keep his password private.

Guessing it wrong will only wipe the data. The password will not be erased or be able to set a new password. That is why we love these things in corporate america, they are really secure.

See if you can get a default policy file, then connect to your desktop replacing the policy on the device which currently has a password set. PM me for more info on default policy.

btw - you will not have to reinstall the OS. It will only wipe data, not the apps.

does anyone know if there is a program or utility out there that you can set the hard keys to act as keys in the password? i remember the old palms had this where you could press the hard keys in a particular order and it would accept it as a password... this sped things up rather than typing it in (or in the case of the palm, writing it in in grafitti)

Sorry...there isn't. In fact, there probably wouldn't be much value in this form, as it's just another keystroke, versus writing in Palm-speak. It wouldn't make it any faster in this case.

i'm a little confused, you just wiped the BB and inserted your SIM and there was no password? Then it must not have been a policy set password or I missed something.

if the bb was set on a bes with a password then the protection would still have been in effect after the wipe. however, if it was just a personal password (i.e. created and applied by the user via settings) then it will unlock after the wipe.

atleast that was my understanding.

The password POLICY is still there; if you enter the password incorrectly 10 times and it wipes out all customer data, it will ask for a NEW password.

At least that's the way it has worked on all the ones I've seen.

That will certainly wipe out all data and applications, but the IT password policy will still remain.

Easy fix, toss it up in the air as high as you can. when it comes down let it hit the ground, Problem solved it will no longer have a password.

Only kidding, you need you ask for the password
