So how does this work? Are they setting the primary proxy address in Active Directory to whatever you request, or are there limitations on the From: address you can use? So may people have my yahoo address that I'd hate to change it, but if I can use that address, it would be a lot more attractive...

To put it another way, can *any* email address be used? Can I forward yahoo over to that and use it as my From: address?

Thank you for your response, Dave. A couple other questions...

1) there seems to be no SSL certificate on the sign up page (http://www.exchangemymail.com/order/order.aspx). I am a bit hesitant to put those numbers in. Is there an alternate, secure site?

2) on the sign up page, there seems to be no option that is appropriate for someone like myself who wants to use an existing email address (such as a yahoo account). Which option should be selected.

3) in what part of the country are the servers physically located?

Chris - we do have SSL, the order page was just updated, sorry about that.
you can also just change the http - to https, and it will work..
https://www.exchangemymail.com/order/order.aspx

if you are using yahoo, you can use one of our goemm.com accounts, and request to have your reply to address changes to your yahoo address..

Our servers are located in a tier 1 datacenter on Long Island New York.

Status report: My experience with Exchange My Mail.

So, I'm already spending a fortune this device and thought I'd go ahead and try out the hosted Exchange and BES services, mainly because of this site. I wanted to share my experiences.

Nutshell: Would I recommend this company? Absolutely.

I added a standard 100MB account and BES services today. The links and documentation were good, and I was able to get my own account going within 3 or 4 minutes. I wanted some customization done as regards which attributes were "public" to the peeps on that Exchange server. A note to the support link got me a practically instantaneous response from the famous Dave who took are of changing my display name and designating a new From: address.

Next came BES. Again, the instructions were very clear and the activation went cleanly except for one glitch. I don't know if it is a 7100i issue or what, but there was a glitch where BES went live and sychronized everything *except* my Inbox. After a couple of intuitive troubleshooting steps, Dave asked if it was OK if he called me. He called within 5 minutes and had a RIM support technician conferenced in on the call. The problem was solved in less than 2 minutes. The issue seemed to be a known issue with RIM/BB, not with a problem with the provision of the account by Exchange My Mail.

I have to say, as someone in the IT industry who has managed help desk operations, I was very impressed with how thorough and responsive they have been so far. As someone who has been burned out on support operations... be careful Dave!

I have no complaints so far, although I can see disk space becoming an issue. I do wish the default disk space was 200MB (or at least mine - hint! hint!) with cheaper options for upgrades. Darned that Yahoo and Google for getting us used to no quotas... Hope this helps.

I was wondering how you setup the mail accounts when bringing over a private domain name. Do you allow/facilitate the setup of catchalls per domain? If not, how many aliases do you allow per mailbox?

MS exchange doesn;t do catchalls, but you can setup a bunch of aliases.. We have no set policy on how many, but a reasonable amount should be no problem.

Yeah I read around and saw the only way to set them up was with a vb script (which only works for one domain) or via a third party software from TurboGeeks.

Do I need to have a Windows PC to use this service? I'm a Mac user and, while I have access to a PC with Outlook 2002, I'd prefer not to.

I think I posted in another forum about ExchangeMyMail but felt I needed to add to this one as well. Dave and everyone at ExchangeMyMail have been AWESOME!!

The service I get from them is incredible and blows me away sometimes. Instant responses and fixes to any questions or problems I am having. I'm using the Exchange and BlackBerry hosting. Setup was easy and when I ran into a couple of problems (on my end), Dave responded immediately and helped me out. Oh, did I mention that was late on a Sunday night? lol... great service!

More praise for the guys at Exchange My Mail.

Frustrated with Cingular's price gouging for the use of third party applications I called in and had them remove the Wireless Internet Express Pay Per Use line from my account.

I then immediately called Exchange My Mail and signed up. Within 30 minutes I was up and running. Now I'm using the MDS proxy to access third party apps not to mention taking advantage of wireless synchronization and all the other goodies. Dave and Steve were nice enough to walk me through the entire process.

They know what customer service is all about.

I am just curious. How much faster is the web browsing than the normal 7100i would offer without this BES. Your reviews sound awesome, and my only real complaint I have is the speed of my browser....

All the comments sound great and I am thinking of signing up as well. Cingular is getting on my nerves. I do have a question, I searched but found no answer. Will I be able to drop the Unlimited Data Plan that is currently on my BB7290?
