Default Stock 7100 case is a "quitter"

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 7100t and use the stock case all day every day (I also bought the egrips for it). I just noticed that my egrips are wearing down and becoming smooth and the elastic on the case is getting all stretched out and saggy (like old gym socks...quitters).

Just wondering if anyone had noticed either or both problems.

I stopped using the case and just slip it in my pocket - the egrips have lasted better since I switched.

That said, I am looking for a nice horizontal case so I can get the bulge out of my pants (keep your mind out of the gutter...). I have yet to see one with the magnet/BB sleep function builtin - but that may not be a show stopper at this point.

Default Case options for 7100t

I am a new 7100t / BlckBry user. ... don't particularly like the standard case either. Here is what I stumbled across:

Jbminphx-

Love the horizontal case but I count on the sleeper function and need a case that has it.

Default There is a excelent case on ebay

I have a 7100r. I used the stock case for about 5 minutes before giving up on it.

There is an excelent horizontal case that supports the sleep function available from a guy on ebay.

i just got it today, so i'll post after a few days of having it. seems ok, blackberry 7100t fits fine, has the top flap, auto shut off feature too just like the case that comes w/ the 7100t.

Excellent cases!! Thanks for your posts. These are two very nice looking cases and have the sleeper function. I can't wait to hear the results of your first trial jon01.

Jon01- I just ordered the same case from ebay and havent received it yet. it looked like the nicest one out there- but I'm looking for a simple leather pouch design like the OEM one I had for my 7290. Hard to believe RIM hasn't made a simple leather pouch case for the 7100 series...

I ended up selling my left nut and right arm to get one of these from a friend of a friend of a friend who knows a guy at RIM

Im probably gonna get in trouble for showing all of you this if he finds out. Just a sample of some of the cool things made for the charm that you will probably never see on the consumer market and are floating all around RIM headquarters.....bastards...this is just one of many cool things Ive seen made specifically so far for the 7100 and YES, there ARE leather ones made by RIM. I doubt you will be able to buy one any time soon. I could tell you more but then Id have to kill you. :P

I really HATE the holster that comes with the 7100, its absolute garbage IMO, once the elastic stretches, which doesnt take very long, the PDA has no trouble slipping out. Ive too many close calls while bending over to pick something up. Good thing I have quick hands. I dont like anything Ive seen on e-bay or anywhere else for that matter made for the 7100. Just a matter of time before nice stuff comes out I guess.

Like I said, dont expect to see these anywhere anytime soon, one of many beta products for the 7100 I was DAMN lucky to get my hands on. Sooooo many cool one off or small amounts made of beta extras the RIM employees I know always like to tease me with.

NEVER, Ive been looking for months. These are beta at the moment and expect to wait a while before you see anything on the market. Any beta testers are not likely to give one up. I had to BEG for this one.

Default Agree with Jon01

Came to the forum to post a review of an absolutely AWESOME case and saw that my co-worker (Jon) beat me to it. he ordered one of these on eBay for me as well so here's my 2 cents:
* very nice leather
* fits very snugly. obviously made specifically for 7100 (not a re-purposed treo case)
* Sleep function works great
* flap over top is great so charm won't slip out. help down by magnet to keep things neat
* swivel belt clip locks firmly into 9 positions and is slim enough to hold case & phone close to the body

My only negative is that the belt clip does not hold as tightly as the original RIM holster. This is a plus if you curse the original case evry time you try to clip it on something. It can be a negative though if you are trying to retrieve the phone quickly and the hole case comes with it. Perhaps when the case wears in the phone will slip out quicker and this won't be an issue. I'll keep you posted

forgot to mention... i'm using it with a 7100t but the case is not tapered on the bottom so should work just as well with other charms
