hey... never tried this before, need to know the behavior.

i have a bb with 2 bis accounts and also a bes account. i want to remove the enterprise activation and policies but keep everything else. far as i know the only way to do this is to wipe the device. so my question is, if i do a full backup using desktop manager, wipe the device, then restore the backup, will this also restore the enterprise activation and bes settings? or will this do what im trying to do?

if you've got a 'locked down' it policy (e.g. disable camera etc) then you need to move the BES user to a "default" it policy first and make sure it kicks thru to the device prior to wiping. IT policy will survive a wipe..

The later versions of DM (4.6) tell you that there backing up service books, whereas the previous versions didn't tell you (although not sure if they did that anyway!)

A policy will indeed survive a security wipe however, a restore to factory will effectively remove it.

Note: If you are attempting to circumvent security placed on your device by the BES this policy will return if you re-activate on that BES.

wonderful... my concern isnt really getting rid of the policy, i know i can do that. my question is, if i restore a backup will the bes settings come back? or does it have to be enterprise activated again first?

It has to be enterprise activated again. You can restore the backup.

why does "reset factory settings" leave 3rd party apps? doesnt sound too factory to me
