Default BES Express

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All

we currently run full BES but as we only have 4 blackberry users and wanted to cut costs I am looking into installing BES Express instead as would mean a major saving, we dont user the IT policies so the limited number of policies wouldnt create a problem 3 of 4 users are in office everyday only one is remote so the lack of OTA activation isnt a major problem, just wondered what poeples experiences were of moving from BES to BES express.

many thanks

Mark

Sounds like it would make perfect sense for you to migrate.
I've done several of these types of migrations with no problems whatsoever.

In most cases, very easy... but that's all relative to your experience and skill level.
What version of Full BES are you starting with?
The BlackBerry Enterprise Transporter was created to seamlessly move users from one BES to another. If done right, they won't even know it happened.

Hey, thanks Timmy. I would have never thought to ask that.

No problem I know that only certain versions are compatible with the transporter. I hope the document works!

If you have just 4 BB users, you could also consider to remove BES, install BES Express and re-activate the four users.

This might be less work than setting BES Express up on a new server and installing / configuring the transporter tool and moving the people over.

Depends if the users would accept some downtime and a manual re-activation.

For 4 users, I'd just do an in-place upgrade.
Click, Click, Click, Done.

He is going from BES to BES Express. I don't think you can do the inplace upgrade:

There is a workaround about this now:

Assuming you would have new SRP with express since it is free you would not need to shut down old BES.
