Default Attachment issue on 9650

Please Login to Remove!

Most attachments come through fine, but occasionally some of them don't, even though they come through in outlook.

Has anyone seen this?

I know your post says 9650, but your profile says 9700... which one are you really talking about?

I have received various types of attachments on my 9650 and have had no issue with them (as long as they are a recognized file type for the BB).

While I do agree the user should update his profile, however considering the 9700 and 9650 are both running OS 5.0 it should not matter in this type of situation.

All we can do at this point is wait for the OP to post back.

You would think in theory that there would be no difference, but with RIM who knows. A friend of mine has a 9630 with VZW and has issues that I didn't have and could not duplicate on my Sprint 9630 (and we both were running the VZW release of OS). I have since upgraded to the 9650. So I just wanted to make sure that we are all on the same page.

The attachments in question are small .xls files. The only thing I can figure is it maybe has something to do with how they were attached? I'm coming up empty, as most attachments do come through ok, but not all.

Also, I've updated my profile and sig, sorry about that!

They are not by chance protected worksheets are they? Could they be Office 2010 Beta xls files? I haven't had a chance to try either of those yet, but I would look there. I would also make sure that you are running the latest version of DocumentsToGo (or whatever program you might be using)

it's coming from an sql service account that is automatically generating the xls file and then emailing it to certain people. The same attachment works fine when I save and try to send it to the same people, so it has to be something with how that automated process is attaching the file.

Could the fact that the original attachment/message is being sent via SMTP relay be an issue? If so, how would that be resolved?

Probably has to do with the formatting of the file, when it comes out of the process.. Which is why when you save it and then send it again work.

The SMTP Relay should be irrelevant. Are you trying to view these via Sheets to go or the normal BB Attachment viewer?

After further investigation, this is happening for any attachments that are being sent by SQL reporting services, not just excel files. We changed the format to PDF and the same thing occurs. The attachment reaches outlook, but never the blackberry device

So does the attachment NOT arrive in your BlackBerry Inbox Or can you NOT view it on your device?

We are having the same issue with any BB that has 5.0 on it. Older versions recieve the attachment just fine.

And an interesting point - emails they recieved before the upgrade still has the attachment and is viewable. This leads me to believe that the BES is sending the messages differently once it detects 5.0 on the device. Unfortunately I do not have the knowledge of how to pursue that line of thought.

Found a workaround. Open the email that should have an attachment, press the blackberry button and chose xxx8220;View as Plain Textxxx8221;. The attachment will show up.

It would be nice if RIM would fix this because you do not always know you have an attachment...

Thanks for the workaround, this just started happening to me within the last month on Verizon's network using a 9650 BOLD. Device is running OS v5.0.0.732 but the BES is 4.1 SP7.

Wondering if this isn't something with the carrier because 2 months ago we were on the AT&T network and I had the BOLD 9700 (BES 4.1 SP7) and these attachments came thru fine.
