This is something I just found on Wikipedia. I'll copy and paste here.

According to the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center (Doc ID: KB05461)[8], the maximum capacity of microSD card is only limited by the operating system:

BlackBerry Device Software version Media card size limit
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0.81 and later Up to 16 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.6.0 and later Up to 32 GB

According to my 8900, which I recently purchased from fleaBay, my phone identifies itself (in About) as "v4.6.1.231 (Platform 4.2.0.108)." Does this mean I can put in a 32GB MicroSD card, or does the Platform limit me to just 2GB?

Smooth - you do realize that what you posted could be found (very easily) in http://www.blackberryfaq.com- a great place for new users, and those with a lot of frequently asked questions - to find great information.

4.6.1.231 that is your device software number.
the platform number, in this case, is irrelevant.
