Is a screen protector really worth it?

Unless you are clumsy or over protective it seems pointless.
I can see needing one if you carry your BB in your purse or if you accidentally toss it into the same pocket as your keys on occasion. Also if it is going to keep you up at night worrying about it then by all means get one and then schedule a psych eval.
I use to be overly anxious about my devices. I had an innopocket case with my first LOVED phone! Innopocket PDA Metal Case, Hard Case, Metal Case, Aluminum Case, Magnesium Case, Titanium Case. This kind of scratch-a-phobia behavior seems laughable now. I know you are thinking the innopocket body armor isn’t the same as a tiny clear screen protector but honestly its all relative. It’s all the same.

I think they are worth it, I put a extra screen protector on my Curve that my wife had left over from her's and about two days later I had a good size scratch on the screen protector almost the whole size of the screen going down. It's nice to know that it is on the protector and not on the screen so I can just take it off and my screen will be brand new looking

Worth it particularly if you ever decide to resell the device!

Once in a blue moon the oddest coincidence happens in a forum: I was just coming in to begin a thread asking how to get a scratch off of my new Pearl.
Yes, a nice plastic screen protector, as hokey as they can look, would have been preferable to this scractch from who knows where on my device screen.

Of course they are worth it, and they wouldn't be doing so well in the retail outlets if they were not worth it.
The person up there suggesting people might be mentally ill because they want to take care of their BlackBerry seems a bit over the top with his: "clumsy..overprotective".. "in need of psyche eval" "scratch-a-phobia behavior," etc.
Good Lord.

Me neither. My:
Kyocera 7135
Treo 600
Treo 650
Treo 700p
Treo 700wx
Audiovox PPC 6700
HTC Titan PPC 6800
HTC TyTN II
All were protected. But my HTC Touch 6900 wasn't. And so far my Curve isn't. They both have solid scratch resistant covers over the screen this makes me feel obsessive when shopping on ebay for a screen protector.
How fragile is the BB screen?
Some one please lay your BB on the ground and drop a key on the center of the screen from a height of 10 inches and report back, Thanks.
Better yet,,,,,, my wife has a pearl. She has dropped it on pavement, it bounces in her purse all day, the dog chewed on it once and it is occasionally in a pocket with various other items such as a pen, coins and other junk.
I'll check hers out when she gets home.

My screen looks great even though I got the device cheap,,,, used off ebay.
It has a lot of light scratches on the back. It looks like it has been dropped once on its bottom corner,,,,, hadn't noticed that before....
I cleaned the screen really well and put the device on standby then held it up sideways in front of the window,,,,,,,,,,,, The screen has dozens of light scratches! Now which one?
Well that answers that question. BB screens demand a screen protector. I bought this one CP SCREEN PROTECTOR FOR BLACKBERRY CURVE 8330 - eBay (item 220247522650 end time Jun-20-08 12:44:04 PDT) I seems like the whole screen would have to be covered or I would look kinda funny.

haha... forgive me if i'm wrong, but i think it's safe to say that many of us who browse this forum have some variation of OCD towards our BBs. that being said, i'm the only one of any of my friends who use screen protectors, so i think it's also safe to say that a majority of people don't really care about the shape of their phones. as long as it works, people are cool with it. i guess what i'm getting at is it's just your personal preference...

Do you have to cut the ones you linked to?

screen patronus does not need to be cut. you simply take the back off and apply it. it's super simple. they look great and last forever.

unfortunately, no. they pretty much fit the glass as well the area below to fit shape of the trackball and buttons (not the tiny part on the sides of the send and end buttons though). BUT, screen patronus does sell bigger sheets, so you can cut to your exact liking.

The ones I linked to fit all different ways. ScreenPatronus fits as Holz descibed. There are others as equally as good as ScreenPatronus, like BestSkinsEver. They all fit different.
I like SP for ease and low cost. You get 3 in a pack, usually you will mess up the first one, and use the second. A third for several months later. Because of the low cost, I usually buy 2-3 packs at a time, with shipping, about $20-25 total.
